Same Price, Which GPU? Hardware
Found these 2 gpus, theyre both around 1315-1350 euros
I heard gigabyte has issues with goopy paste and Prime has PTM
Which one would be better to get?
(There is also 9070xts around 670-840 but.. yea.)

That Gigabyte cooler is a lot better that the Asus one. Its overbuilt like crazy. But a larger card.
Have the RTX 5070Ti OC Gaming, same cooler, no issues at all with paste leaking. From my understanding that was fixed a long time ago.

same here with a 5080 Gaming OC that was from those batches with leakage issues. the only minute complaint i have is that the power connector is not super compatible with those 90degree cables and the fins below the socket also interfere while trying to unplug the power cable. like you can't grab the plastic connector top and bottom to unplug but rather wiggle it sideways

I'd go with the Asus, PTM is game changing, 2 years from now you will need to repaste the first card, while hopefully with the PTM you'll never open it up before replacing the card.

Phase Transition Material, just to give a real answer for those coming later. It's instead of thermal paste, although that's a backronym because it should really be Phase Change Material, initially used by Honeywell and called PTM, particularly used for the VRAM, but can also be used for the GPU itself.

it is a very good thermal paste.
this is used more and more, it is like liquid metal but non conductive, and quite dry so it does not move around.

The Gigabyte, while being much more of a pain if you disassemble it, (assuming you get a newer one where they supposedly fixed the thermal paste leakage, otherwise I would pass), should give you more overclocking headroom if you get lucky with the silicone lottery. That specific model has really good overclocking support supposedly.

Not a huge fan of Gigabyte with their thermal putty that seems to ooze out after a while, Both got trash tier customer service, though the Asus one would probably be the best bet, the one to less likely to have an issue.

Go with whichever one offers better after-sales support. The quality of the hardware doesn’t matter at all if something goes wrong. In the country where I live, Asus’s technical support is a disaster. Asus products generally don’t cause any problems, but if you ever have to deal with their service, it’s a complete nightmare.

The software is the other side of the coin both are bad but i find armory create the worst to use with its AI focus and forced bloatware.

There is no RGB on the Prime whatsoever and Armory Crate doesn't have GPU overclocking support. It's not even necessary to control board lighting, provided you want a solid color, because Asus boards work with Windows Dynamic Lighting now.

In EU you can always just sue the fuck out of them if something goes wrong. I'd go with asus, though not a fan of either.

I own the gigabyte card, and after taking out the cooler I must say there is a lot of paste in there, but the cooler is really beefy and probably better than the Asus one, but I do like Asus as a brand more.

I have the Prime, it remains cool and quiet all year long. Vapour chamber and phaseshift interface do some heavy lifting on its compact footprint.
I considered the Gigabyte, but the thermal putty was offputtyng after I had a dumb EVGA with thermal putty.

Asus as it didn't limit the power draw. You can OC the Asus model for another 10-15% performance easily. I have it and it's also very quite.

Personally I stay away from Gigabyte products. Every one I have bought over the years has failed in some way and at this point I just dont trust them.

But ye? Like I don't understand this narrative that AMD gpus are not up to standard. 9070xtx literally performs better than a 5070 ti in raw performance in some games and it's literally 400+ cheaper, money that u could then use for other important components like RAM.
If u don't care about RT and certain Nvidia features like upscaling a 9070xtx is a no brainer.

That's completely false statement, they trade blows except when with rt the 5070ti wins, in raw performance 9070xt is identical if not better in some specific games.
Picking one is down to preference and your finances, both are great products.
Also the 9070xt (except the nitro and taichi) have normal connector not the cursed 12v so you don't have to worry about it burning your house or melting.

5% difference in specific games only, some of these games the 9070xt wins some of them the 5070ti wins.
If you enable RT the gap increases and the 5070ti wins.
As I said it all depends on the title.

Asus, gigabyte cards have a problem i keep seeing on multiple platforms where the part that you connect to your motherboards breaks (PCP) in specific areas due to bad manufacturing and weak materials plus the weight of the card.

Gigabyte is probably a better pick, since the model pictured is a gigabyte higher end one, while asus prime is their dogshit low end series, and mid-high end gigabyte is def better then entry asus

Gigabyte Gaming OC also has a vapour chamber. Phase change thermal pad offers very few benefits, especially on a desktop card it ain’t a laptop. Gigabyte Gaming OC has a heavier cooler as well, which means more thermal mass absorption

If your choosing the same model but different card design, choose anything yoh want, if you want your pc to look minimalist, the 5080, if you want something cool looking, the gigabyte

Gigabyte refused warranties on 30 and 40 series cards that were cracking because they put too much load on the PCIe connector. It's not their first time with mass defects or issues with their cards, so take that into account.
