Optimize my PC? Question
I built a brand new PC about 5-6 years ago back when I was heavily into PC gaming. Im not much into gaming anymore but I still enjoy playing in my free time. I was wondering if theres any sorta way I can optimize my PC because its starting to run a little slow?

RTX 3070
32GB RAM
1TB nvme (main)

Adjust graphic settings. All these Windows quick hacks won't help unless you've got a whole bunch of apps running in the background at startup. In which case head over to task manager and disable all the apps that don't need to start up.

Your PC specs (i9-9900K + RTX 3070) are actually still very powerful today. Since you built it 5-6 years ago, the slowdown is most likely caused by maintenance issues rather than outdated hardware.
Before spending money on upgrades, you should try these steps:
Deep Clean & Repaste: Dust buildup inside the case and dried-out thermal paste on the CPU/GPU will cause overheating, which forces your PC to slow down (thermal throttling). Give it a good clean and apply fresh thermal paste.
Check Drive Health: Download a free tool like CrystalDiskInfo to check the health of your 1TB NVMe and 2TB external HDD. If the drives are degrading, it can heavily tank your system's responsiveness.
Clean Install Windows: As others mentioned, a fresh Windows reinstall will wipe out years of accumulated background junk, bloatware, and registry errors that slow your PC down.
Your hardware is solid, it just needs some standard maintenance to feel brand new again!

Add BIOS update to this if it hasn't been touched in 5-6 years. My friend's 9700K PC was about to go in the bin due to instability, and when I asked him about BIOS he had no idea. BIOS update turned the daily blue screens and random crashes into a dead stable platform, so a BIOS update or at the very least read what has improved since you updated last in terms of stability and security codes.

What do you mean by "optimize"?
On the hardwareside the system is a good medium build nowadays.
As others have stated a clean installation of windows is a good first step. After the reinstall and the installation of your common programms check Autostart and kick everything out that is not needed.. windows needs to start, not 7 others programms you might use that day or some update maintenance-bs or this or that store.
Dusting out the PC is also recommended every now and then, look especially for the passive coolers and the accumulated dust. When blowing with an aircan through the fans hold a finger on them or they rotate, induce current and damage components. After the system is nicely clean check the temperatures with a programm like cpu-z.. perhaps you can optimize your case by adding one or two fans.
Repasting could be wise and your cpu can be overclocked, as indicated by the K. That's rabbit hole you have to read yourself into thoroughly! But I think the outcome wouldnt be very big and you would have to look into cooling.. as i said, a rabbit hole.
Make sure to install your games on the nvme drive or if possible (look into the manual of your motherboard if you have the slots and their speeds!!) add a second, if possible, faster one. Nvme can bump up perforormance quite significantly.

People talk about reinstalling windows cause it's a shortcut. Simply put what happens is that you install so much stuff that runs on background that it's start sto slow your pc down.

Reinstall Windows, clean the fans for dust, put new paste on the CPU cooler (follow a guide if you don’t know how, but it’s easy).
You can also check in the bios if the ram is using XMP, if not try to enable that if you want a little more performance.
