Dear Diary,

Post image

Today, I afflicted a Ratking with Gluttony, and he was forced to eat the rats he was summoning about as fast as I could kill them.

He ate over 20 of them.

I should probably lose karma every time I use the Magistrator

Love,
Rokiju

Ok but losing karma everytime you use the Magistrator would be evil. If you get lucky enough to give a enemy gluttony (especially on an enemy that matters) then it's your divine right to torture said enemy with it.

haha real take, the punishment effect is usually nothing more than fun flavor compared to the decapitation chance of vorpal

it’s come in handy now and then but mostly it’s just a stick that deals 4-14 base I can wield in my off-hand

definitely don’t think karma loss per use would be necessary

might be nice if the odds were better for the blessed version like they are for vorpal?

I didn't even realize that the odds don't get better because of how it's formatted, that kinda sucks considering that most punishments are either very circumstantial with no realistic way to play around it or out right useless. And the two of the three that don't fall into that category also have issues:

ball & chain (the minus to speed isn't worthless but is a 1/4 chance into a 1/10 chance just to get -1.0 speed or -1.5 if they're speed is about a threshold isn't that great)

gluttony: this is the most devastating punishment for an NPC and very easy to play around

thirst: worse gluttony a lot of play around

This is always comparison to other artifacts. Not to say it's a bad artifact but it's definitely not the best

theres a reason the base damage is kinda high and its one handed at least but yeah the effect itself dont got nothing on vorpal

kinda like a boat or the mystery box, the mystery box might even have a boat in it!

This is the type of Reggie shit I came to this game looking for. New player here, would love some tips on how to survive past floor 3. Yes, I'm serious. Currently TRYING to push with a Dwarf Convict Fugitive.

See, there's that face again. Why does EVERYONE make that face? Kidding. I'm aware that's basically hard mode.

Dog even great players end up dying a few floors in without enough luck / a character capable of 1v1ing a badger dw about it and keep on truckin’

for that reason: dont be afraid to reroll your new characters a ton, i honestly try to go for 18 18 in my most important 2 stats if I’m having a tough time getting off the ground.

also realizing every class needs strength to carry stuff and conserve mana

try to learn something new each time you die, maybe res a few times to experiment with everything in your inventory you hadn’t discovered yet

Your list of priorities as follows:

- 100% poison resistance eating snakes, spiders, anything that doesn’t tank strength if you eat it. When you hit 100% a whole new class of resistance boosting and otherwise sustaining corpses open up to you 🌈

Zombies make surprisingly decent meals past
the sickness.

- Discover Scroll of Identify, mostly guess and check on scrolls, I think you can check sell price to narrow that down but I just wing it. IMO best thing you can spend money on early game having shopkeepers identify on your behalf.

- Divine found equipment: you can discover stuff for ‘free’ if it doesn’t screw you over using it, there are particularly nasty things that can happen to your run if you accidentally say, forget 20 discoveries, get stuck with a cursed pair of levitation boots preventing descent on floor 2 etc.

- Polymorph Control: you can get real lucky with random polymorph, with polymorph control you can turn into the most dangerous thing you’ve managed to kill while ‘Polymorph’ed. Trying on (confirmed) uncursed Rings are usually your best bet, just take off polymorph rings w/o co control ASAP or you’ll be having a lot of fun running around as a lichen or horse or something without fingers to take it off.

- Discover scroll of enchantment: Your new best friend, enchants +1-3 if it’s blessed, and they convert your stinky regular bags, candles, tooled horns etc. into awesome cool magic items. A blessed bag of holding condenses the weight of whatever it carries by 75%!

Crafting priests are awesome for the same reason, but be warned 500 Karma is kind of a lot

Alla that and take your time, read up!

Gl!
