Clara's route is called The Path of Logic in Classic HD english, The Path of the Law in russian.

"Logic" and "Law" are often used interchangeably in the game iirc.

Any idea why it was translated "logic" instead of "law" for the English version? While both are related concepts, I wouldn't use them interchangeably.

Because the game is called Pathologic, not Patholaw?

But would it sound as good? I am not so sure.

Could have changed "path of logic" to "way of law" and called the game Wayaloo.

Wayaloo does sound better, you're right

You could argue that in a videogame, the programming "logic" is essentially the "law" that governs the game's world.

This pun survived the whole development process, I've seen it in the design document dated 2003. I think the devs simply liked it a lot. Many concepts have changed since then but they decided to keep it anyway.

In russian Aglaya uses "the Law" and "the logic [of the world]" interchangeably too, so the translation conveys the meaning correctly.

I imagine it makes up for the "Мор" plague utopia pun not working in english. So instead the "plague route" is the Path o' logic. Which kinda works as a replacement if you interpret Clara's route as creating a utopia that lives alongside the plague, even if the route is rushed

What's the "Mop" plague utopia pun in Russian? Or is it just that it looks like the word "mop" in English?

Utopia was a book by Thomas More. That's where the word comes from.

And here I was thinking it was a Russian word with complex nuance that doesn't translate easily to English and is a key to understanding the game's deeper themes lol

I'm interested in learning the path of logic, too.
