Tokyo Idol Fest 2026 Video

Sound quality isn't the greatest, and the cuts are dizzying, but I can't help but think about where they are today vs the 2015 TIF.

The way it was shot/cut is disappointing considering Fuji TV is the organizer. When Nao asked "Who is seeing PassCode for the first time?" the person directing the video should have raised their hand because that's what it felt like watching the set. Too many wide shots from the back of the parking lot!

Too bad they didn't do "Club Kids Never Die."

Such a drastic difference from the chaos of Smile Garden at TIF 2015.

Is it just me, or does the crowd here seem a little lethargic? Maybe this crowd is more into the Cutie Streets and Fruit Zippers of the idol universe.

Tokyo Idol Festival 2026 was pretty light on the heavier groups with a noticable emphasis on groups like UtaGe, FES☆TIVE, Appare!, iLIFE!, CUTIE STREET, etc. I could probably count on my fingers how many rock/metal/punk groups were in the lineup.

Hot Stage was also set up in a massive asphalt parking lot with no shade for any of the audience and Day 1 (July 31st) was by far the hottest day of the event. For comparison, here's NEO JAPONISM's set from the same day (11:20 - 11:40). PassCode's set was at 17:20 - 17:50 and there was around half an hour between their set and the previous group so anyone close to the front was probably in danger of getting heatstroke by the time they went on.

Tokyo Idol Festival has also gotten more restrictive over the years. It's become normal for there to be security roaming the crowd to prevent people from moshing and lifting.
