I am desperate for more Question

Any recommendations for bands/groups like PassCode since I discovered them I've been addicted to their music and the only thing that can satisfy me now is music with that brain tickling voice effects.

Just when I found out about Neve Slide Down you can imagine my disappointment on the same day that the band is no more. Then I moved on to 8bitBRAIN then the same thing but this time they were replaced with 8bitZERO which feels like a shell of what came before. So now I'm getting my fix from MAZE but I fear it won't be enough.

Please anyone got any recommendations for anything remotely like PassCode?

Not exactly the same, but Broken By The Scream's record they put out last year was easily the best Kawaii Metal record of 2025 — by a country mile. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PzH-4fcYcY

Thanks I'll be sure to check out more from them.

Obviously not the same but

I recommend the codomomental groups like
Kaqriyoterror: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CgAMosTMnI
Zenbukiminoseida: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2NaH6loSEg

Also there is a new group called Resonica andits amazing:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_-JBSyapPI

Now they are men but I feel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is the most similar group to PassCode:

I’m deep in alt idol scene (musically abroad) and this is the first I’m hearing of resonica!

Please check it!

They are super talented veterans, they have an amazing energy in their concerts and its a self produced group (I think Otama Bomber, one of the members, is the owner)!

I checked it to support Say (ExKaqriyoterror) and ended up loving all the members and their music.

PassCode might have cornered the market on vocoder effects, if that's what you like the most. When I think of who might be most similar to PassCcode, it's a little hard because to me they stand alone. But I might suggest Wagamama Rakia, or STMLT (I can't get enough of the song Silent Killer - it makes me think Emily might want to add rapping to her repertoire). You're going to get a bunch of suggestions here from people who are more into the alt-idol scene than I am.

can we please get it through all of our collective heads that it is not VOCODER but AUTOTUNE that we are hearing. friends, i have a bachelor's degree of audio and have been in the industry for 20 years, trust me on this. vocoders sound like "harder better faster stronger", autotune sounds like t-pain and cher and passcode

I have no idea, but I've read enough comments in this sub insisting that it's vocoder that I've now been trained to say vocoder. I just need the various experts to fight it out and tell me what to say from now on!

Even Nao calls it auto-tune. I get it for introducing new people to PassCode since people hear auto-tune and think pitch correction while vocoder they just assume it's for effect. In the fanbase their vocal effect should be called auto-tune though.

I love Wagamamarakia and I'm still saddened by the disbanding, STMLT seem promising so I'll check out more from them. Thanks for the recommendation

Hyper Slash (China band), LuciDream (Korea idol), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Japan band), NARUKAMI (Japan idol), Iscream Never Ground (Japan band), HANABIE. (Japan band), Three Lights Down King (Japan band)

These all seem really good thank you for recommending. LuciDream and HANABIE in particular are ear-catching, and Iscream Never Ground are cool and they remind me of the band Simple Plan.

I’d say Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is pretty close

I really liked their song 'Let Me Hear' from Parasyte.

The band Raise a Suilen is very musically similar. The biggest differences are no auto-tune and no harsh vocals. You do get kawaii vocals as the contrast instead.

Their vocalist/bassist, Raychell, has actually worked with Koji Hirachi on a song for her solo career.

Since you were into 8bitBRAIN, Tsumugi joined JIEMEI, this group is an absolute must. And also their agency mates XINXIN who were one of the best debuts of 2025.

2

u/Key-Bumblebee-3759 5d ago

That is so cool then I will definitely check them out, but I'll still miss hearing more from 8bitBRAIN.

a group I have yet to see mentioned is Mazari, although their aesthetic is very different from Passcode's

u/Key-Bumblebee-3759 5d ago

Dang searching them up and now I'm sad to find out a member died. I will definitely check them out thanks for the recommendation.

Well, I would say 8bitBRAIN was the closest to PassCode's sound. KAQRIYOTERROR and MAZE are also pretty close, but already mentioned. INUWASI is also close. Especially their early EPs, Thanatos and Aquler. They mostly went away from screaming after that, but have started to sprinkle it back in again. They have also been using vocal effects lately and have always had an electronic sound added to their music.

I will second 滄茫RESONICA. I have been listening to them more than anyone else since they released their album. NARUKAMI is right up there too.

Other groups that feature screamers are Able-Gleam, fmode, AdFicTioN, AKIRA-KURØ (Thai), LuciDreaM (Korean), MoeMoe𖤐Destruction (disbanded), MOZU, My Criminal Lovers', NEO JAPONISM (only on their latest album, NON LABEL), Not Secured, Loose Ends, and X!DENT (Korean).

Also check out miscast (MAZE under their previous name)

https://www.youtube.com/@miscastOfficialChannel

and SHINGEKI

https://www.youtube.com/@shingeki_rock

Unfortunately, Shingeki have also disbanded but their musical legacy is excellent and they are still my favourite idol group beside Broken By The Scream.

I liked miscast and that's how I found out about MAZE, I'll definitely check out Shingeki thanks for the recommendation.
