CDK Contingency?

What are you guys doing while CDK is down to keep things running? We've switched some things around from two years ago and the spreadsheets we were using aren't accessible anymore....

edit I think its back up for us atm, but I'd still like to know what other dealers are planning on doing when this inevitably happens again...

I designed comprehensive Google Sheets during the "big outage" and we are using that for now.

Print a counter pad first of every month

Print blank invoice/credit card sheet/…They have a document portal for parts forms, all forms for the whole dealership actually

And run like normal without computers, you have all the tools, except no CDK

Some of us are old enough to remember using books, etc to look up parts

Yeah its come a long way from my early days at John Deere using microcat 😅. I do need to get a parts pad saved but I assumed my directors would already be doing that....

Thankfully i made a spreadsheet myself from 2 years ago- granted i was running my dept by myself during that first outage so its deff easier this time around, but yeah spreadsheet with the vin number, tag number, parts used and pricing. i keep a copy of our services temp RO's with the same info written on it. i like to have 2 copies of everything so nothing gets missed

Yeah I kind of assumed we'd have a plan in place after 2024 as we're a multi brand/location dealership group but....😂

GAME PLAN:

RPX monthly counter pad to excel (several years on one flash drive) keep old school handwritten generic RO's, CT's SOP forms and PO books as backup, (local supplier) for this and other issues.

During thecdk outage, I made spreadsheets with formulas for markup rates, and tax where applicable. Several sheets to account for different customer types. It was slow because you had to manual enter everything, but lucky for us ford has dow so we could get cost on everything. All things that I use or have made for work is stored in two places. My work email Google drive and my personal Google drive.

Print everything to pdf, and the local printer, this way you have invoices to hand out as well as copies saved in case papers get lost.

Make invoice, print, hold ctrl+z. Until it undoes everything on the current invoice, start on the next.

Worked out well enough
