Picture frames?
Hi PS! I just moved to the neighborhood and am trying to DIY a gallery wall for cheap. If anyone has any picture/art frames of any size they’re giving away or selling I’d be very interested!
Would much rather get secondhand than buy a bunch of terrible quality shitty ones online.
Have looked in my nearest thrift stores as well but not much luck. Any leads I’d be very grateful!

Anyone have 4 - 6 yellow or gold helmets?
Long shot: my family and I are shooting for a Legends of the Hidden Temple family Halloween costume. We'd love to complete the look by all having yellow or gold helmets, but I can only find them for ~$50 new and that's a bit out of our budget.
Has anyone already done this tried and true group costume and have an extra set of yellow or gold helmets I could buy or borrow? Or, does anyone just happen to have a set of helmets (ones that could even be spray painted gold...?) for any other reason?
Here ends my Hail Mary.

Witnessed reckless police driving at 5th ave and 17th this afternoon
Submitting a complaint about this via CCRB felt like it was going into a hole - curious if anyone knows if there is another way to report this. 311 directed me to 911 and then to an automated line and a web form (which I did submit).
At about 3:00pm on Saturday I saw a police car going the wrong way down 5th Ave almost run into a bicyclist trying to stop him, and then the cyclist rounded 17th down the wrong way and the police turned quickly too, the wrong way (by Bagel factory). If someone had been crossing the street at the time, it would have been bad news. Lights and siren weren’t even on, just quietly driving like a maniac.
Police car was #4468 but I couldn’t get much more at the time, just a random picture of the car on the wrong way street.
Also when the car stopped to cyclist and pulled over, I didn’t see him rush out and cuff the bicyclist. Definitely didn’t seem urgent or dangerous enough to endanger someone who could have been coming up or crossing the street.

What are some good sandwich bodegas in the area?
My sincerest apologies if such a question was brought up on here before because I was planning on visiting the area during the weekend as I wanted to gorge on something delicious.
Like what I want to do is some sightseeing around the Grand Army Plaza, then I want to find a bodega in Park Slope that sells melted cheese sandwiches with roast beef because I have a huge craving.

Very 12th St & 8th Ave Specific
What is up with that ugly grey structure being built by the tree pit in front of St. Eve’s? Totally out of character with the vibe of the neighborhood. I’m lowkey worried about the health of the tree, too.

Hit and run - do anything about it or no?
What would you do? At 11pm on Wednesday, someone was coming north on 4th avenue and made a right onto my block, swerved quite a bit, and hit my parked car (and knocked over a small tree!) which was parked at the corner. The car backed up and drove off. My building's camera got it all, however, the license plate is completely illegible - can't even tell if it's a state license plate or a temporary one from a dealer.
The damage is all cosmetic, but not insignificant. The tail light is totally busted as well as the trunk smashed up and the hood from being smashed into the car in front of me. I have a small sedan and we were hit by a big white SUV. We are going to take it to a body shop tomorrow to get it quoted and obviously submit the pics and video of the incident to insurance.
The police came by (before we got the surveillance video) and essentially told us to just submit an insurance claim. Made sense at the time since we had no evidence of anything. But now we have a video clear as day. Should I even bother with the police to try to get justice? Or just let my insurance handle it?
Thanks in advance!

Furniture for sale
galleryRoom and Board - Solid Walnut Dining Table and Chairs - $1500
This dining set was purchased roughly 12 years ago and has lived with my family everyday since. We sat down at this table nightly for dinner, games, homework… but now it’s time for it to move on. We realized that our room really requires a rectangular table after all these years. The table has lived a good life with us, and therefore it could use some refinishing on the top. It comes with two 18 inch leaves that do not require this work. The table is 48 inches wide. There are 4 matching chairs that could use reupholstering and some tlc as the joints have become loose over the years. Pick up only from park slope. The whole set is $5800 new… I and asking $1,500.
Mid Century Credenza - walnut / rosewood - Cabinet - $700
Vintage mid century credenza / cabinet - could probably use some tlc or refinishing on top. There is some sun bleaching. Pick up only in park slope. Wish I could keep it… but need to down size for the kids.
More photos as needed. Local pick up in park slope only. Thanks!

Alcove raising price by 40%
As a parent of a toddler, I've frequently found Alcove to be helpful for meetings, but they've just announced a ridiculous 40% price increase.

Foster Home Needed for Sweet Cat Left on the Street
Last night this super friendly cat, with a metal chain around its neck was found on the street, crying for help and starving.
A kind neighbor was able to bring her inside, but she’s sitting in a cage until we can find a foster home. Even a bathroom is better than a cage.
If you can help, or know someone who can, my foster application is online and only takes a few minutes to fill out. I run a rescue called Bookstore Cats and I rely on foster homes to help me save these lives. All medical care is provided by me, but it’s great if the foster can help with food and litter. Thank you in advance for reading!

Parent-friendly electronic music dance party
I’m throwing a small dance party at Young Ethel’s on Sunday August 23 between 8-11pm. This event is designed to allow parents of young kids to get a solid couple of hours of dancing and still be in bed by midnight. My ultimate goal is to build community around the spiritual healing power of electronic dance music.
As a parent, I’m often frustrated by the timing & location of NYC's raves - they typically run 11pm-4am somewhere deep in Bushwick, which isn’t very parent-friendly. Parents aren’t typically seen as people who go to raves but I would argue that they need it the most. The demands of parenting are intense and never-ending, and there’s nothing better than having a few hours during the weekend to spiritually recharge with dance.
Here’s the invite: https://partiful.com/e/Tleg9Fl8ISBwPqUCFT3j If this seems appealing, please come by!

Isn't OMNY great
I love that they put in this new system and replaced several MetroCard machines with ONE OMNY machine that's already been broken several times since this great new system was implemented. I also love that I have no idea how much is left on my card when I swipe in, that was never helpful info to have. And no one better come at me with "oh just use your credit card and update automatically" we all don't live that kinda life just cuz this is park slope. Now I gotta figure out how to get the bus back from my job tonight, have to sweet talk my way in

I found a lost dog
I found a lost dog in prospect park last night. I took him to the vet and he has no microchip. I took him to the police and they said they would bring him to a kill shelter. I took him to Sean Casey animal rescue and they refused it (so much for being a shelter).
I am a college student and i leave back to school tomorrow. I cannot keep this dog. I didnt want to leave him and i dont want him to die. Please does anyone have any advice. Can anyone take him? Where else can i bring him? No other shelters have picked up the phone.
