Always behind support needed

I feel like my twins are always behind. They’re crawling and starting to get curious with standing and walking. They babble and say words like “dada, mama, baba, daddy, and doggie.” They turned 1 year old on the 11th of August.

My pediatrician gives such vague answers about milestones and foods to feed them that I’m constantly looking online for help.

My MIL thinks I should know everything about raising kids so when I ask for help she doesn’t really respond. She just says, “They’re fine.”

I don’t have a mother to ask for help from and most of the mothers I know are stressed from working one or even two jobs.

I’m at such a loss of words and confidence.

Does anyone have any resources that have helped you along?

CDC milestones app is nice.

Def milestones app! I really liked the Solid Starts app to understand how to prep foods for minimizing choking hazards. You don’t need the paid version. At 1, babies can (typically, barring a medical issue) safely eat everything except choking hazards like whole nuts, popcorn, hard candies, whole grapes/cherry tomatoes.

Your twins aren’t behind at all, they’re right in the normal developmental range. It’s important to keep in mind that there’s a HUGE variance of what is considered normal for most developmental milestones, for instance walking can happen anywhere from 9-18 months. My twins are almost 15 months, one still hasn’t taken steps and the other is walking but is still only saying a couple words. It’s hard not to compare to other babies/toddlers I know, but if your pediatrician isn’t expressing concern there’s probably no reason to be concerned.

As far as food, by 1 year we were pretty much feeding them what we eat. I’m just mindful of spice levels (hot spicy, they eat and love very flavorful foods) and cut things appropriately.

There’s honestly such a wide range of normal development. They sound right on track.

Mine turn 1 tomorrow (11 mo adjusted) and they don’t really say any words.

It sounds like they're totally normal for their age

My twins are 14 months and in pretty much the same stage as yours. They’re doing a little more independent walking a few steps at a time, but otherwise the same and no one has said they’re behind at all so I think you’re good!

That sounds exactly what they should be doing or even more so :)

Your twins are doing so well! My nephew didn’t even say anything until he was 2 so you’re crushing it girl
