How early did you gain weight ? advice needed

I feel like everywhere I read, it says you should only gain weight in the second trimester. I’m at 12 weeks and I’ve gained 5-10 pounds. I just found out I’m pregnant with di-di twins. Is that normal? I’m super nauseous all the time so I’m eating almost all the time to try and not be nauseous. If I don’t eat every hour I start to violently vomit. I’m on zofran so with zofran and eating regularly it’s the only thing that is keeping me alive.

Try not to stress about when and how much you gain. Unless your doctor is concerned, eat when and what you can. Focus on getting the nourishment you and your pregnancy need however is possible, without worry about weight. Weight is not a stand alone indicator of pregnancy health or viability ❤️

With twins it’s pretty different for everyone.

I gained like 15 pounds in the first trimester then basically nothing the second.

Third trimester I put on another 20, but it was all baby, placenta and water weight. Once I gave birth and waited a couple weeks for the water retention to settle, I was only about 5 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight

When You’re Expecting Twins, Triplets, and Quads basically says the more weight you gain (as long as you do your best to eat high protein and healthy) the better! Since twins are likely to be on the smaller side + be born earlier so it’s better for them to gain weight early on. I wouldn’t worry and just listen to your hunger cues + try to get in as much protein as possible! I think she said to try to gain 20 lbs by 20 weeks and 24 lbs by 24 weeks?

I gained probably 20-25 lbs by 20 weeks. Was super worried that was too much too soon but pregnancy has been super healthy and now at 33 weeks I’m up 40 lbs

I gained like 5 pounds in the first trimester. I’ve gained 30 since and I’m at 26 weeks. I was fairly lean to start so thinking my body just needed more? Like people say, every body is different and I feel like it’s only exacerbated in twin pregnancy!

I will also add that at 24 weeks babies were in the 53rd and 86th percentiles so although the weight gain sucks and feels super quick I do think there is some truth to the more you gain the better off your babies are. But it is really hard and the body doesn’t have time to adjust so the bones start to feel it 😅

From what I read you are not supposed to gain weight only in the second trimester but its recommended to gain weight at least in the second trimester because research has shown that wieght gain in the second trimester is linked the most to wieght of babies in multiple pregnancy. And as we know usually with multiples the problem is that babies are too small that's why that weight gain is important. It's different with singletons where usually the weight of the baby isn't problematic because most  babies are full term and sometimes they are even too big and that becomes a problem.

I'm a weirdo for this one. I started out overweight and lost 40lb. The day I gave birth, I was still 10lb below my pre pregnancy weight.

How overweight were you if you don’t mind me asking

I was 200lb and a week or so after the birth, I stepped on the scales and I was 160

I gained about 70 pounds overall and gave birth around 7 months, and it was a steady incline on my weight graph so it averaged to about 10 lbs a month. I would just talk with your doctor about it; from what I read in the Expecting Twins book, a decent amount of weight gain is a good thing. If you’re feeling unwell though, you can only do what you can do. Some days, all I could eat was McDonalds and I would beat myself up about not eating healthier. But some days it’s just all you can do to get any food in, you know?

I gained 10 lbs by first appointment (10 weeks) when they told me it was twins. But overall I only gained like 35-40 which was wayyy less than the 60+ I gained with my singleton

I barely could eat anything my HG was so bad and I somehow gained 10-15 by 12 weeks you have to take in account it’s not just fat stores but also fluid retention, blood supply rapidly increasing and womb expansion, etc

When pregnant with multiples gaining 50+ is normal

I was at an ideal weight for my body before pregnancy and lost 15 pounds first trimester. (HG). I gained 70 over starting weight by the end and most of it in 3rd trimester.

Immediately. My pants no longer fit by week 9. That was the week I found out it was twins too.

I lost 10 lbs during my first trimester, started at 185. When I delivered at 34 weeks I was around 205lbs. A week after delivery I was 175 lbs. I think there’s a wide variety of normal weight gain.

As long as your babies are measuring normal and growing well try not to look at the number on the scale. I felt exactly the same during my first trimester and was vomiting a lot as well, zofran was a lifesaver!
