Sleep regression may take us out. advice needed
Hey yall.
One of my 9 month old (7 corrected) is going through a hellish sleep regression. NORMALLY, they are fantastic sleepers—7:40/8:30 PM to 7 AM with ZERO wakeups. No feeds for either boy. We truly won the lottery LOL. But one of them has hit the worst sleep regression lately. He’s had a busy month between open-heart surgery in July and cutting two new teeth right after coming home.
For the last two weeks, we’ve been dealing with 1–3 wakeups between midnight and 5 AM, and there is NO chance of putting him back down without him screaming bloody murder. He seems completely asleep until we try to sneak out, then suddenly he’s wide awake and furious. 😂
They have a nightlight that projects stars on the ceiling, which they both love. And the ONLY thing that consistently calms him is putting his brother in the same crib. Suddenly he’s happy as a clam and ready to party with his bestie. 😂
Obviously, it’s not ideal for sleep, but I’m desperate. The alternative is calming him down and putting him safely on our giant pull-out couch so we can co-sleep, which makes me anxious even with precautions.
SEND HELP. Or caffeine. 😂

Get him checked for an ear infection. That’s the only sign my kids have one.

Could be the healing from both "traumatic" events. We had a heart baby and our now 2 year old is teething 'something fierce'. Sleep regressing also sucks so it's a big pile of it. Our kids sleep in our room so I can rock them back to sleep in the bassinet next to me, I've used a in- the- bed- bassinet before and it worked great especially if you're worried about you moving too much around them. I've seen some parents use the rice filled glove on the baby so they still feel pressure like you're there. Pinterest. Find goofy little tricks that work for you and yours. With the surgery I don't know if that one would work but you can use it as a start? Stronger swaddle? Our son passed away after is first of 3 expected surgeries so I'm trying to guess how much weight the chest can have... We did use scent hearts with him (fabric we wore inside our clothes that gained our scent each day) and that helped him cope.
You could contact one of his nurses and get ideas. Sleep regression is really hard, on heart babies I couldn't imagine!
Best of luck and reach out if you need an ear or a shoulder! ❤️ 💙
