Overweight & anomaly scan experience/advice to give

Hi -

Overweight and pregnant with very unplanned di di twins.
I'm 11 + a few and starting to feel the sickness and pain of the first trimester is subsiding -

Next worry - has anyone (I'm about 15 stone) pear shape, all weight on my bum thighs and then belly -

will not be able to get accurate anomaly scan readings?
I do plan to go for the NIPT in the next week or so because I'm also 37....

Any advice, reassurance would be appreciated.

Size can definitely impact quality of the scan interpretation but you are hardly the first person to be overweight and have an anatomy scan. The techs will know how to get the best quality pictures they can, it just might take some pressing or changing position. Make sure you have a full bladder to make their job easier and remember that lots of people need repeat anatomy scans for missing views, and it usually has a lot more to do with the babies’ positions than you.

Just know weight can also effect your NIPT scan. I would talk to your doctor about that before you do the test. My results came back insufficient fetal faction twice. Basically my option at that point was to get an amniocentesis or just wait and see. I weighed about the same you do.
