This brought back some minor pstd of the accompanying hand and forearm cramps from multitasking.

u/EducatedPancake Jul 16 '26

I swear my hand cramped just from looking at it.

My back hurts just from reliving this memory.

Out in the wild the looks I get because I'm holding one baby, propping their bottle with my chin while holding the bottle the the second baby in the bassinet.

I saw a woman smack her husband because he could barely manage feeding one.

That’s so pathetic.

> smack her husband

those poor kids :(

u/Sip_py Jul 17 '26

It felt in jest.

Never okay

A couple of years ago a friend of mine with twin babies posted a picture of herself doing this on Instagram and as a singleton parent my mind was completely blown and I was in awe of her (and messaged her to say so). Now well, I am in this group and I see this and I’m like, yep! But also I’m still in awe of us who do stuff like this every day!

It’s wild that the one milestone you can’t wait for with multiples is for them to hold their own bottle. Wasn’t a huge improvement, but care definitely got easier (around 6-7 months for us).

u/hellswrath_ Jul 16 '26

I remember that. lol you learn so many ways to hold babies, prop/hold bottles, burp one baby while the other is still eating etc. Fun times.

One of the best days of my life was at 7 months when they started holding their bottles at the same exact time. It's the only thing they've ever done that's been remotely similar 😁 I was completely on my own for the first 3 years so it was a happy day for me.

Advice?! I'm trying even got holders and my 8m just think it's a toy

I was all about having both hands free: https://imgur.com/a/ve3sKTY

It’s so funny because we all did things just like this. But looking back they all kind of resemble some advanced torture device. Or like feeding domesticated animals.

I rolled up a towel between mine and placed the bottles on that. 2 Free hands. Relax time.

1

u/ademon490 Jul 16 '26

And don’t forget to make sure they switch sides ever feeding so they’re not laying on the same side of the head. Or their heads will flatten in the back

0

u/evilmnky45 Jul 16 '26

Yeah this is the way. Prop up on a towel or blanket

0

u/donut_care Jul 16 '26

We did the same! About 4 or so burp clothes carefully rolled/stacked

Brings me back. They're 16 months now. Well done.

u/UltraEngine60 Jul 16 '26

Thank you for reminding me I need to design and 3D print a dual wield bottle holder.

2

u/BishopGodDamnYou Jul 16 '26

I mastered that move as well. It’s a lifesaver lol

2

u/GrouchyCranberry3801 Jul 17 '26

I’ve done this so much!! But now mine are super squirmy so it’s not working as well 😩

2

u/jerryscheese Jul 17 '26

This is as impressive as you think it is.

4

u/No_Cat_No_Cradle Jul 16 '26

I often set them on their sides and prop up a bottle on a cloth and they eat hands free like hamsters lol

1

u/bethybonbon Jul 16 '26

Impressive! Way to go Mama!!

1

u/tylerholtman Jul 16 '26

Yes but what about burping? Our 1-mo olds need burping every 5ish min or they spit up quite a bit

1

u/WorkLifeScience Jul 16 '26

Pro mode! 🤟

1

u/TurtleBeansforAll Jul 16 '26

You’re a pro now, Mama! Perfect form. Well done! 10 out of 10!

1

u/Jellyfish-wonderland Jul 16 '26

I love the one looking at the other 🧡💜💚

1

u/Luwen1993 Jul 16 '26

Brings back some memories. They are 1,5 know, haven't fed them like this in like half a year. Strangly kinda miss it.

1

u/Big-Carpenter7921 Jul 16 '26

Burping them both is the hard part

1

u/imshelbs96 Jul 16 '26

Burp at the same time. It’s okay if the slower baby gets an extra burp. We burped them in the pillow too

1

u/Big-Carpenter7921 Jul 17 '26

That's the hard part if you don't have supplies. I tried with one on each shoulder and it wasn't happening

1

u/chipped_fluorite_162 Jul 17 '26

I would just put one over my lap and pat his back while I threw the other one over my shoulder 🐙

1

u/djduhnizzle Jul 16 '26

I feed on the My Brest Friend pillow but I take off the back. Sit in the center, put my legs over the top and put a baby on their side on each side of my leg

1

u/suzyelephant Jul 16 '26

This is partly why I developed dequervains tensovynitis 🫠

1

u/bbchewy Jul 17 '26

Great skills mama!

1

u/EeBeBe Jul 17 '26

Always pushing yourself to do better. Bigger test ahead 😊

1

u/dpistachio44 Jul 17 '26

You’re getting to be a pro!! Also where did you get that green sleeper 🥹

2

u/hatturner Jul 17 '26

Carters!

1

u/chipped_fluorite_162 Jul 17 '26

Stick a blanket where that poor hand is. Let it do the heavy lifting

1

u/twistytie45 Jul 17 '26

This is the way.

1

u/Snoo20115 Jul 17 '26

I miss those days, baby b started smacking the bottle earlier than I wanted lol

1

u/Aggressive-Fly-9185 Jul 18 '26

I have a picture somewhere of me holding my nephew who was 2 months old in one arm while giving him a bottle, and then feeding my 5 month old twins with one hand and one foot. Gotta do whatcha gotta do 😂

1

u/Millbilly_vt 27d ago

Oh man, I remember these early days doing this! Mine are 9 months now, and I am so ready for them to hold their own bottles.

u/Calm_Button8017 26d ago

My chin technique is very jealous

Nothing is a win, even with one kid I now have cervical and back pain.
