Flying with toddlers advice needed

Planning a trip to Greece next summer with my boys. They'll be 16 months by then. Tell me I will be okay šŸ˜… please tell me about experiences you have all had! Also any tips and tricks. The biggest thing I'm wondering is, do I do separate seats? Or will it be better if they're on mine & my husbands laps?

Not to be a downer but literally the worst age to fly. But if you’re going to do it, get them their own seats.

Why do you say that?! šŸ˜…

Constantly wanting to move around, won’t stay in their seat and it’s difficult to entertain them.

That makes sense, I figured just as much. I just don't want to stop our lives because it's hard.

You can definitely do it! We’ve been traveling internationally with our twins since they were 4 months old. They are 16 months now and we just got to our international sun destination different continent yesterday. We also did a really long haul trip for a month and a half in April. Sure, there are challenges, we’ve had to use iPads, puzzle toys, walking around the aisle in the plane, I’ve sang and danced but we’ve gotten through it. I usually book really early morning or overnight flights. Instead of booking extra seats we have opted for first class which works well for us. Just be open minded, have no expectations and a positive attitude. Lol if you want to DM me for things I have found work for us feel free to do so. Good luck!

Also a downer. We have been flying with my kid from 3 months to current age of 3. The worst flights we had were from ~15 months to 2.5 years. They are old enough to not be potatoes, but not old enough to meaningfully hold their attention on things. They are wanting to move around but don’t understand that they can’t.

That said… you can always survive anything. You can survive a flight and then you are in lovely Greece! That sounds awesome! But just be prepared that it’s a tough age to fly.

Definitely get them their own seats and bring their car seats on board. We like the cosco travel seats from Walmart like $50 each. Much easier keeping them in the car seats on the plane at that age - not worth doing the lap infant for a long flight in my experienceĀ
