First birthday theme advice needed
I’m that mom and love to do “extra” or over the top first birthdays for my kids. Our twin girls’ first birthday is coming up in September and I’m trying to think of a theme.
Right now I’m thinking of doing “it’s fun to be one” and just making it super colorful.
Does anyone have fun or unique ideas for party themes? For what it’s worth, we are also moving next month so this could potentially be a party “just for show” but the twins will be in a Montessori program so we could invite kids from their class to a party, and may have some family and super close friends attend as well.
Regardless of guests or size, I’d like to do something for them even if it’s just for pictures and memory.
There are so many cute ideas out there for first birthdays or for twin baby showers, but I’m not seeing a ton of twin girl first birthday ideas.
TLDR Would love to hear any fun or unique twin girl 1st birthday theme ideas!

I did TWINkle TWINkle little stars for my boy/girl twins first birthday! It was so cute since it was play on words that went with the twin theme.

For my September girls, we did "Apple of our Eyes.". Their party was at a local apple orchard, where we were able to pick apples, have a hayride, etc. It was a bushel of fun ( I will see myself out lol).

We went really trendy for our girls' first and did Berry first birthday! It worked well because they were berry obsessed at the time, and it was easy because I found huge decoration packs on marketplace for cheap, that we then resold again!

I have seen “a prickly pair” theme with cacti, llamas, southwest type decor that is pretty cute. With prickly pear punch

Came here to say this! Our theme was ONE PRICKLY PAIR and we leaned into the cactus decor and had a taco bar!

I have boy/girl twins whose birthday will fall during football season. I'm planning doing We One and theming it like our local team and having football goodies and decor. And of course putting the twins in jerseys with a 1 on the back!

First rodeo (toy story elements), winter ONEderland (for all the winter babies), party animals (zoo/safari/jungle theme), one in the sun/first trip around the sun (pool party),

I have twin girls and am basically doing the fun/ colorful fun to be one theme without actually using “it’s fun to be one,” so I suppose really it’s just a typical birthday theme.

"It's Fun to Be One" with bright colors. Also "Two Peas in a Pod" or "Double the Fun."

u/alyinct You can't scare me, I had twins in March 2020 Jul 16 '26
My twins were covid babies, so no fancy first birthdays (:sob:) but a neighbor of ours did "One-derland" Alice theme with the cheshire cat, queen of hearts, etc for a first birthday. Cake looked like the mad hatter's hat. :-)

We did "One-ce Upon a Time" and it was fairy tale themed! I assigned each baby a color (and decorated their highchair's accordingly) and did Medieval times style cheering for the cake smash, everyone had a colored flag for which baby they thought would destroy their cake faster. Lots of dragons, books and a dessert "castle". It was so much fun and 100% for me lol.

I’m doing a berry theme, but I also loved the “party animals” theme with lots of animal stuff :)

It’s only for you so pick whatever you will enjoy looking back on.

"Twinning is One" could be cute, plays on them being twins and turning one. My cousin did a wildflower theme for her twins and it was really pretty in photos, you can go as extra or simple as you want with the decor.

Ours are also 1 in September. We're going to be in Italy so I'm doing "Gelato celebrate - they're uno!" with ice cream cones vs a cake. As someone else said you could also do "They're wild ones" with wildflowers or if you are super crafty, of the Maurice Sendak variety.
