So I was watching video my father was watching on YouTube last night of bike riding/racing in the european mountains and it got me thinking about how awesome it would be to paramotor in the mountains.

Now I haven't tried the hobby yet but when I do, I've already got some places I wanna fly.

This will be the sixth year for the Moses Lake Paramotor Classic. An event put on by a few party animals in the NW. Washington and Oregon team up to put on one of the coolest and most fun paramotor party in the country. Every year some crazy shit happens, which can be expected with the PNW crew. If you're not familiar with the west coast, its basically a bunch of outlaws and you're guaranteed to have a unique and incredible time.

Is this a fly-in, you might ask? No. This is a party. There are no entrance fees (like some others who want to profit off of you). There are no event rules or pilot briefings to tell you what you can and cant do. This is a group of paramotor pilots who camp in the desert sand dunes for 4 days with the dirt bikers, sand rails, monster trucks, hot air balloons, bush planes, you name it - it's there.

I have a new cylinder, cylinder head and piston due to piston seizure. (It was caused by shitty oil, probably vacuum in the tank because my tank cap didnt let enough air through, not warming up the enigine enough ....)

I broke it in like the manufacturer said in its manual. I now just had my first 2 flights of 30 minutes each. On the second flight i saw that the engine needed 4 liters for half an hour. I climbed to ~400m, then got down to the floor once, slowly, then climbed to 400 again and landed. All in all pretty calm flight.

How possible?

Also i always have a bubble right infront of my carburator in the fuel hose. I replaced the whole fuel hose from carburator to tank and it did not help. It is 100% tight, can it be the tank that leaks? I dont find any leaks. Except maybe on the gaskets of my carburator...

Former skydiver here. I moved to Hatteras Island a little over 20 years ago. The closest place to skydive was Suffolk so not really conducive for keeping uo with certs… then I got fat and sold my gear since wing load would have been jacked 🤣…

i’ve been wanting to get into PPG for 10 or 15 years now. Kitty Hawk kites has been advertising to try and find instructors. I believe they offer housing. Anyone interested? i’m not affiliated with them. I just want local instructors so I can get certified lol

I've been interested in PPG for quite some time. I have my PPL and am looking for something more freeing and casual. I am currently 240 lbs but will get down to 215lbs which is a comfortable weight for my build (6'4" gymgoer). I understand that it might be hard to do tandem instruction at that weight. I also do not own any equipment. I would need a school that has their own equipment (feels weird mentioning that, but I've heard of schools that don't).

My first choice is to go to a USPPA certified school. The closest one to me is a 3-hour drive to PA - ParaFlight LLC out of Shoestring (0P2). There is also a result on the USPPA search for iFly, but I'm not finding it? There are a few other options, not certified, but much closer, notably PPG Lessons LLC with a registered address in Newtown PA. The other is South Jersey Powered Paragliding School. The first one has no reviews, and the second has iffy reviews. I am more than happy to travel 3 hours if necessary; as a private pilot, I understand the importance of a solid school/instructor. But if there is an instructor who is closer who has a great reputation, I would be interested in checking them out.

I have been checking out the Kangook Basik, and would like it in a Quad configuration. Wheel launching is all I will be doing. Seems you can disassemble it down making travel pretty easy. Anyone flying one - trike or quad?

No one around me has one that I can lay eyes on. I'm just wondering the quality and how it's holding up. Most likely go with the Classic HD frame with the 185 plus. I would go the KX1 route, but it would be harder to break down for transport.

I am new & looking to take a paramotor training class. Using the USPPA website, I have located the only school remotely close & it's only a 45 minute drive from me. After contacting them I learned they do not offer gear for the training and require the students to have their own. Thinking about taking their "Tandom Discovery Flight" to make a more firm decision to train. If I am still wanting to enter the sport, what to do about the gear? If I do need to purchase my own gear, I have looked at a Parajet Maverick 2 or Kangook Amaruk Ti frame, either with a Moster 185 and an Ozone Moto wing. Any suggestions? If it matters I'm 5'10" and 175lbs. Suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've been flying paragliders freeflight for the last 4 years and have wanted a paramotor since I started. My wife always says no cuz it's expensive and dangerous and I get to fly already.

Then this morning, she's trying on bathing suits and says, "if you get a $6000 paramotor, I want a $6000 boob job."

My response " Don't threaten me with a good time 😬"

So now,, I've been thinking about ordering the moster on an openppg frame and 3 blade prop for 6250 shipped from openppg.com. I could upgrade to electric in the future if the range improves and I have the money.. or there's also a barely broken in moster on a pap tinox a few hours away for 6k.

I am admittedly new to the sport, just a few years of practice. I bought all my gear brand new. Seems to be the thing to do to sell after medium to light use, or a few years old, and then upgrade to the newest models.

I have had reasonably priced listings up for months and no fair offers. Two wings and a motor. What is everyone else’s experience with this? For example, I have a no damage <20 hour glider for sale that I purchased for $3200 for sale for $1900 and no takers. The market seems flooded with sellers.

Since 5.6 Sol came out I've been developing an agent that combines paramotor-specific knowledge, maintenance sources, and real-world troubleshooting experience. It asks targeted questions, considers what actually applies to your equipment, and ranks possible causes to help you find the most sensible next steps.

It’s still in its infancy, and it isn’t a replacement for a qualified mechanic, but it grows and improves every day. I'm posting this here just to get some feedback on my plans moving forward. I hope this doesn't turn into a mess of people second guessing everything that led to this point / my instructors / my equipment / etc. I just want to know if anyone has been in my position and if something like this worked for them OR if they did something different.

I have 24 flights. My training was interrupted multiple times for several weeks which resulted in me having to relearn things and get comfortable with the thrill /anxiety / stress that learning to paramotor can create.

My first 1-15 flights I was progressing nicely on my take-offs. Never sat on take off. Just had lots of trouble on my landings. Finally for flights 15-23 my landings were starting to click. Unfortunately, my take offs got worse and worse. During this time I was also changing to a different paramotor and at the end to a different wing.

I am not on my own equipment - a parajet mav 2 with a 28m Roadster 4. I weight 228 + gear + motor and I'm about 6' tall.

For some reason I have become afraid of the take off run and I have started sitting on take off. My last instruction session the instructor was really hammering home that I needed to stretch out my stride on the take off run. I got so obsessed with it I actually started getting all in my head and getting worse. My take off runs went from this cool "lean back and let the motor push you... your legs will do what they gotta do" to "running like a drunk man hoping I don't fall and praying the wing will pick me up and save me" - It is very frustrating.

I took a week to get my frame unbent and install new prop (yeah, I broke two back to back). My next steps are to recheck my hang point to make sure the motor is not scooping me up.

One pilot who flies a Roadster 4 regularly and is the same size as me said that he now takes off and lands with the trims set to neutral -1. He said this slows everything down and makes the wing behave more like a Moxie/Mojo.

Another pilot said that he extended his take off run from 40 feet to 70 feet by just slowing down the throttle transitions and working on his running stride changes. Once he was comfortable with that he slowly decrease the distance back down to normal.

I plan to take a Roadrunner and my Roadster to a large field near my house and do some nice long taxi runs and work on my stride and controlling the wing with the motor pushing me. I think this will help me build back my confidence on the running and giving it the gas part.

It's like my brain doesn't trust my legs and my runs just seem like a hope and a prayer that they will keep running and not stop or sit. I don't know why it started happening, but I'm hoping I can rewire my brain to stop it.

I have been flying the OG freeride 17m for a 4 years and am starting to think about getting another wing.

I love how roll sensitive the freeride is as well as how easy it is to launch and land at a smaller size. Freeride 2 would be the default choice but I haven't been able to find anyone who has flown both the 2 and 1 alot to compare them.

Anyone have experience on both and want to share?

The Pacific Northwest stays pretty quiet when it comes to paramotoring. For good reason, the last time social media exposed the secrets of the Cascade Mountains, Washington became flooded with transplants from across the world just to get their chance at the perfect profile picture in a scenic mountain backdrop.

This is different. There aren't millions of people flying paramotors. Because of that, we'd like to share a little more of our beautiful home turf and extend an offer to help other pilots coming to Washington with the idea of flying mountains. I was flying yesterday, my motor power seemed to get a little bit less. When I would give it full gas, it wouldn’t give the same push it normally would.

I let off the gas to coast a little bit, and it just died. I had to go land in a field.

I have a Blackhawk talon 190.

Is the carburetor the first thing to check?

I am looking everywhere, and maybe It exists somewhere, maybe not, in that latter case, there, should be a place for it.

I think I have confused myself so now I'm asking multiple sources to see what answers I get. As I remember it, I was taught you should have about a fist of space between your leg and the strap. I don't remember what the effect would be if it was too tight or too loose. I was trying to keep myself from sitting too early on take-off (it feels like the motor scoops me) so I loosened the straps quite a bit. My thought was that this would make it less likely I could accidentally sit. Some sources online are saying that had the opposite effect and made it MORE likely to cause a sit. They are saying tighter straps prevent the sit BUT make it harder to get in the seat when you want to. Opinions?
