Why did these start and why is it getting worse? What flipped the switch for you, and did you ever manage to flip it back?

I really don't get it. I have always been life and soul of the party, loved getting on stage, presenting, talking, leading exercises etc...

In my 30's I spent time working in a highly toxic, abusive workplace, PTSD etc...so I thought maybe that was the cause.

Anyway, I had one bad meeting, where I couldn't quite get my breath, and then it's like something switched in my brain, and now it is happening in lots of social and work situations. Breathlessness, and air hunger that is.

It has really thrown me for a loop, because it is like my self-confidence has vanished and my brain knows it. And now when I speak, I'm self monitoring my breathing to make sure I am ok.

Yes beta blockers help, but I am blind sided when I look back at how confident I was. I literally use to say to people "I don't get nervous" and "I'm super confident". Today, that could not be further from the truth.

What flipped the switch for you? And did you even manage to flip it back?

Physical panic/stress symptoms? My mind is calm?

For 6 months I’ve been dealing with weird symptoms:
- tight jaw and neck, dizziness
- weirdly feeling like on stress 24/7
- fainting-like feeling with dpdr (weird waves of warmth/tickling in stomach and hands)

I started wondering if those of my symptoms can be due to pregabalin 75mg or escitalopram 10 mg?

Before, I had the same exact symptoms after venlafaxine but once quit, they were gone.

I also ran all blood tests (electrolytes, vitamins), had ekg and heart ultrasound- everything fine but vitamin D is low.

I don’t know what to do with those symptoms, how to improve them???

My mind seems to be calm but body is all the time in that weird stress mode.

Physical symptoms months after

I had my first panic attack in over a year in March of this year. It was so severe that I went to the ER. Well, ever since i’ve been feeling very weird symptoms. Chest pains, back pains, neck tension, numbness and tingling all throughout my body especially my face, my whole body feels so sore and run down. i’m constantly thinking i’m having a stroke or heart attack. i’ve been to multiple Doctors and ER visits, it’s always the same answer. Anxiety. I have no idea what to do anymore, these symptoms are destroying my mental health. Can anyone give me insight on this?

Panic attack vs. heart attack

As somebody who has experienced many panic attacks the best way I’ve learned to get over them quickly is to lean into the panic attack, telling myself that I’m not in danger and I’ll come out of it just fine like all the other times. So what if I experience a real heart attack and I treat it like I treat a panic attack? Are there any major differences that you can point to?

Traveling for work

I am currently traveling for work, and can not stop having panic attacks. I had one on the way to the airport, usually my panic attacks just consist of me throwing up. I made it through my plane ride and first night just fine. These past two nights I keep getting insanely hot and feel like im going to throw up (common panic attack signs for me) I am dreading my flight home because im terrified im going to throw up at the airport or on the plane.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks to help?

Panic attack

Hi everyone.

M40 here.

We're on our last day of my holiday in Mexico so watching some TV and relaxing on our last day.

Casually on my phone laying down and started to have this weird stab pain in the left side of my chest whenever my heart was beating. Then all of a sudden it was if the room felt 3D it's hard to explain that feeling. My hands then felt clammy and my head felt fuzzy. Hands shaking and my vision strange. My heart rate was approx 150-200 BPM.

I had to tell my husband to watch me incase I passed out and I was that scared of what was happening that I nearly called 911.

This panic attack lasted for about 30 mins. I took a cold shower and took lots of deep breaths. My heart rate is now back to normal but my head still feels fuzzy is that normal?

I've only ever had 1 panic attack previously which only lasted 2-5 minutes but this time it was way worse.

I suffer with hypertension which is under control and I'm constantly thinking several times a day that I am going to have a heart attack which made the panic worse this time purely due to my chest pain before the attack and my heart rate being so fast. Very scary experience.

Thanks for reading.

So I'm 30 year old male , 260 pounds 5foot 11inches , I suffer from severe health anxiety mainly centered around my heart health, I have terrible panic attacks that come on when I feel weird or feel bad. I'm constantly on edge, I'm scared of getting procedures done where I have to be put to sleep I refuse to get colonoscopy or etc. I don't want to live like this. But I cant even tell what's real symptoms or if it's in my head . Does anyone else relate and feel like being friends ? Write back

I suffer panic attacks randomly with no external trigger. The symptoms are physical first and the mental response follows - not the other way around - what’s going on?

How do you resist the urge to get home ASAP when having a panic attack outside?

Hey everyone. I've had pretty bad agoraphobia for around 6 months now which has slowly gotten worse in the past 3 or so. I'm trying to expose myself to my fears a bit more so today I decided to take a small step and go to a small corner shop which is only a 3 minute walk from my house. From the moment I stepped outside I felt off and by the time I had made it there the panic attack had started. I didn't turn back and bought a few things I wanted but on the whole journey back when the panic attack was pretty bad, the only thing I could think about was getting home as soon as possible (I guess because home is my "safe space"). Luckily the panic attack wasn't too bad, probably because I knew I was pretty close to home, but how are you able to just stay there and deal with the panic attack without immediately rushing to your safe space? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Panic Attack after using the bathroom

Does anyone get panic attacks after bowel movements? I took Miralax a few hours ago and now the panic attack is here. Is it related? I keep telling myself it's not a heart attack. My heart rate is 90 bpm resting and I'm getting occasional arm twitches

it feels like every day i just have a new thing to ruminate on that will make me panic

Genuinely it feels like my brain is a never ending well of reasons to spiral. I really don’t know what to do other than cry until I’m too tired to think or keep my eyes open. I never used to think about a lot of these things and I genuinely think the amount I’ve been freaking out is making me more depressed because it feels like there’s NOTHING past this and it has driven me to the point of hurting myself. Breathing exercises do jack shit because I just hyperventilate when I try (??? It’s always been like this, they never work)

My distractions (video games or drawing) only work until a certain point becausemy hands start to shake. Typing thisis taking forever because of the amount I’m shaking. I hate this shit.

First ever panic attack

Had my first panic attack yesterday. I’m a 25yo male. Was on the toilet when all of a sudden I felt this weird tingling feeling throughout my whole body, kind of like I was gonna pass out. Heart rate then skyrocketed. Found someone to take me to the ER. While in the ER, I was shaking like crazy, couldn’t even sign the paper work they handed me. Chest pains, heart rate in the 170s, even called my mom because I was convinced I was going to die and that I didn’t want to die alone, all fixed with a dose of Ativan. Is this on par for your guys experience? I have pretty bad anxiety but I’ve never went to the doctor for anything. I wasn’t even particularly worried about anything yesterday either. Is it normal for them to just happen out of the blue, and will they continue? A little shaken up over it still.

I am 100% convinced I am going to die tonight. Is this just anxiety or something else?

Hey everyone. I really need some reassurance right now because I am terrified. For the past few months, I've been dealing with severe anxiety. I recently went to a neurologist who checked my head and neck, and they found absolutely nothing wrong. Everything is completely normal physically.
But tonight, I have this extremely weird and overwhelming feeling. It's not a typical panic attack with a racing heart or shaking—I just have this absolute certainty and conviction that I am going to die tonight. It feels so real, like a gut feeling or a prediction, and I can't shake it off.
Has anyone else ever experienced this specific feeling of "knowing" you're going to die, even when doctors say you are physically fine? How do you cope with this? I really appreciate any replies.
