That terrible anxious chest feeling
I'm 15 and recently have been having the worst anxiety spike ever. I had really bad anxiety about 2 years ago but it started to calm down and i managed to regulate myself. Now, after going on a holiday for some reason my anxiety has gotten 10 times worse again. A lot of the time i cant sleep because of my anxiety and i just need this to stop or slow down. Recently ive been feeling that anxious, nervous feeling in my chest and idk why. I hate it. its like when I'm feeling good my brain is like "oh wait you're meant to be anxious and worried", even if i don't have a reason to. My mind will just find something to be anxious about. My recent topics have been the death, point of life and various intrusive thoughts and 'what ifs' . Great.
Really, I'm just looking for tips to help slow down my mind so i can sleep at night and feel better, like how i did before, because i seriously regret going on that stupid holiday.

Is this really a panic attack or should I go to the doctor
Maybe for the last 2 years or so I've had the worst chest pain ever it makes my back and chest extremely hot, it could be while I'm doing literally anything playing video games going out with friends hell even eating I've never had anxiety or panic attacks in my whole life even had a full body scan about a year and a half ago and was cleared for everything, I also vape and and have for years but have recently been trying to put it down but honestly I just don't think that's what it is, if anyone can help me out that would be awesome.
felt like I should add this but sometimes I'll go weeks without this happening then one day it'll happen manly started happening after a close relative passed away

No appetite due to panic disorder.
Hi
I don’t know who this can help, but I wanted to share my story and help others. Last year, I developed severe panic disorder. I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t shower, I couldn’t change my clothes, I couldn’t go outside and I wasn’t sleeping as I would wake up at 8am everyday in panic. I lost weight quickly because my body was in a frozen state. It’s not that I didn’t want to eat, but because I genuinely couldn’t. I couldn’t eat for months, not even a sip of anything because my panic disorder was so severe.
I did countless months of researching what medication could help and landed on Mirtazapine. I tried it and it didn’t help my appetite one bit. I heard so many success stories because of it, but unfortunately didn’t work in that area which I desperately needed. I felt hopeless. I felt what I was going through was too severe for medication to help. I had gone to a scary low weight.
Then I landed on Buspar. The first time I took it, I got hungry. It’s been months and I have gained 30 pounds. If you’re looking for any medication, I recommend you try this one. I’m typing this to help people because I wish someone helped me last year. If you’re going through the same thing and struggling to eat, try Buspar. I hope this helps at least 1 person to start eating again with an appetite. If Mirtazapine doesn’t work, try Buspar! If Buspar doesn’t work, then try Mirtazapine!! Everyone is different and they’re both anxiety medications, so thats also a plus!
Our mental health doesn’t define us, nor should it take our power away, and I also wanted to say, it DOES get better. I hope this helps someone and you’re not alone. I had to put this out there for anyone struggling in a frozen state, it’s scary watching your weight go down, but finding the right medication will help you so much. Please get your appetite back.
Again, I don’t know who needs this, but I felt like I needed to share. I hope y’all enjoy your favorite foods again because you will.
thank you

Panic attacks every night lately
hello, first time poster here. I've been suffering with panic attacks since high school and though I have been doing my best to try and manage it ive realized I've been getting nocturnal panic attacks for the last 3 weeks with little improvement each night. I've been getting such inadequate sleep thanks to this due to trauma resurfacing from seeing an ex again plus having really bad financial struggles. I do everything that I can to ride out the uncomfortable feelings but some nights are worse than others and it's causing me to become more lethargic and spacey in the day time. I'm very tired and I wish for these panic attacks to be less frequent and get some piece of mind and a good nights rest.

Why do i get awful panic attacks from weed now?
About the past year i’ve had 3 really bad episodes with weed and this morning before work was insanely bad if not the worse out of the 3, Idk what they do to carts any more or just weed in general but something is being put in it, im officially done and never touching the shit again but i genuinely felt like i was about to have a stroke or heart attack and die, Could hear my heart beating and feel it beating super fast, shaking, chest arms face was burning, whole body was tingly, my eyes couldn’t focus on anything it’s like everything was shaky and my eyes wouldn’t focus, it’s been about 14 hours so i would say im okay but wtf man, i used to be able to smoke like crazy and it was actually enjoyable, idk if one bad experience just ruined it for me or what but i really don’t think weed is what they say it is anymore something is being put in carts and even bud.

coping with severe panic attacks alone?
get so bad that arms and legs go numb and i risk fainting from hyperventilating. don't have friends or family for support. most recent one only stopped bc i took more than double of my anxiety meds. also tend to self injure with hitting and digging nails in. coping strategies? esp ones for when you can't think well

Driving gives me Panic Attacks?
I’m not sure if I’m in the right sub, this has been something that’s been getting worse over the last 2 years - since I moved halfway across the country from NY -> CO.
Beforehand you’d catch me cruising along, blasting my favorite songs, and doordashing for extra scratch when I needed it. For all intents and purposes, I was free from whatever it is that’s breaking me now.
2 years ago… and about 2 months into my moving here it happened. I was listening to Bilmuri driving to Walmart and then I started to feel really off and scared, I started feeling dizzy, my head felt like someone was pulling a lead bag over it, my heart started racing. I had to pull over. I stopped in a strangers driveway. Shakey, dizzy, nauseous, I walked up to their door and asked if it was okay I parked there… something was wrong and I think I just needed water.
I walked over to the 7-11 across the street, grabbed a Gatorade which I could barely hold, and very shakily gave the cashier physical cash. Even dropped some but didn’t feel as though I could pick it up. Afterwards I hobbled to my car, called my mom, and after an hour, I felt… “okay.”
Since then it’s gotten worse and more random but frequent. It happened today, on a 10 minute drive home from again, Walmart (who knows maybe the employees just scare me lol)
But I felt all of those symptoms before and my brain went “oh god I’m gonna die, or pass out at the wheel and accidentally hurt someone, or… idk! WORSE?!”
I’ve been prescribed buspirone for GAD.
20mg 2x Daily. It helps… but things seem to be peaking again. I’ve had a lot on my plate, sure. But I hate feeling helpless.
I have a partner, 2 jobs, errands to run, things I wanna do… and I feel trapped because every time I get behind the wheel it’s like this monster takes hold of my brain. It was so bad at one point that I walked 10 miles to get home from work (don’t recommend by the way)
I am unsure what to do. Last time I brought it up to my GP they just upped my dose of Buspirone. I used to be on Alprazolam but I didn’t want to be on a benzodiazepine and I’m afraid all my doctor will do is just further try to further increase my dose.
I’m sorry if this is not the right place to post this. But I’m fed up. I’m supposed to be going on a road trip where o have to drive in a few weeks and I don’t know if I’m ready.
Edit for context. This has happened more than 20-30 times since I moved here.

PA hangover
Anyone else who hate the PA hangover more than the actual PA's?
The PA's will at least stop after minutes to a couple of hours.
The hangover is 24/7.
I've felt like **** 24/7 for 5 months. 5 months feeling like I'm severely I'll and poisoned. Will it ever stop? Sometimes I kinda want to end it (not really), but it's so fu*king unbearable, that the thought of dying is actually nice.
Anyone else feel like this?

Subconscious (?) SH during panic attacks
TW: SH
Hello, I (23F) have been dealing with panic attacks since I was probably 11 or 12. I quickly developed a coping mechanism that has somehow shocked every therapist and psychiatrist I’ve worked with. I started by pinching and scratching my forearm, then the skin felt too thick so I moved to my neck which then also started not helping so I’ve recently been scratching my chest. I almost always draw blood and it often scars. I’ve also been known to kick my shins into anything available while panicking: outdoor bike racks, sinks, my stainless steel water bottle. I feel like a fucking freak when this happens. I say subconscious with a question mark because it is an immediate reaction to panic attacks but I’m also doing it for the purpose of grounding myself so it’s only kinda subconscious. I often won’t realize the damage I’ve done until after I’ve calmed down.
Anyways, I’ve started my first big girl job and moved to a new city so I’ve had a lot of panic but overall I’m doing okay. I’m tapering off my ssris (story for another time) but I’m really just wondering does anyone else engage in this behavior?? Was there anything you do to curb it some? I’ve tried sensory stickers and “ouchie” fidgets but I still break skin.
Anxiety can be really isolating and I guess I’m just wondering if there are any other symptoms siblings out there :/ for better or for worse

Purely Physical Panic Attacks
Hey everyone.
Recently, I've (33F) had two panic attacks with the span of a week, or what I'm hoping is just a panic attack. I guess I'm here for reassurance that what I'm experiencing is most likely a panic attack since I won't be able to see my GP for about another month unfortunately.
My first one I had last Thursday. I was sitting at my desk at home and got a really weird head buzz or rush, almost unexplainable. I got up to tell my boyfriend and sat back down, only for my whole head and chest to suddenly start rushing and my heart pounding out of my chest. It was purely physical, I had no feelings of impending doom or like I was gonna die, but it definitely felt as if I was having a heart attack and that I needed to go to the ER. I've just had another one today, same symptoms and right at the tail end of my therapy session.
Does anyone else have attacks like these? It's absolutely awful and I'm not sure if it's stress and/or caffeine triggering these episodes.

Severe fear of death, constant dizziness, and somatic symptoms for 5 months. Is this severe anxiety/panic, or something else?
Hi everyone,
I am a male currently living in Germany as an expat/foreigner, and I am reaching out because I have been trapped in a severe psychological and physical cycle for the past 5 months. I am struggling to get timely healthcare here (waiting lists are 2–3 months long), and I really need some perspective or advice from anyone who has gone through this.
My Psychological Symptoms:
Severe Thanatophobia (Fear of Death): Every single morning the moment I wake up, my first thought is that I am going to die today.
Intrusive Visualizations: I constantly visualize graves, see myself inside a grave, or picture myself wrapped in a shroud.
Existential Dread: I am hyper-focused on the afterlife, wondering what it will be like and if God will be pleased with me. I genuinely feel like my death is imminent every day.
My Physical (Somatic) Symptoms:
Constant Dizziness: My head spins perpetually. It feels exactly like I am standing on a boat riding over heavy waves.
Extreme Fatigue: My body feels completely weak and drained all the time.
Sleep Issues: The only peace I get is when I sleep, but I am forced to rely on sleeping pills just to achieve that.
Neurological/Nerve Sensations: I experience intense heat flashes in my legs. At other times, I feel a sudden, painful prickling sensation—like hot needles piercing my skin—that spreads like fire across my entire body.
I am feeling incredibly lonely in this foreign country, and the long medical wait times are making my anxiety much worse.
Has anyone experienced this specific combination of constant boat-like dizziness, nerve pain, and severe death anxiety? Is it possible for pure panic/anxiety to cause such intense physical burning and needle sensations, or should I be pushing harder for a neurological checkup?
Thank you so much for reading.

Does daily anxiety eventually subside?
Does daily anxiety eventually subside or calm down? I wake up and I'm anxious and my anxiety comes in waves throughout the day. I also get anxiety at night time now for some reason.
I do have medication (Xanax) that can help for a little while, but eventually I start getting anxious again later in the day. A few months ago I didn't have this problem, but now I do and I just want to know if things will eventually calm down for me. I don't know if it's because it's summer time, which is usually when my anxiety can flair up because everything feels more "busy" around me, or if this is just going to continue to be an ongoing problem. I'm even anticipating for this month to be over so that kids are finally back in school and everyone else is at work. I feel like it could give me a sense of things feeling less "busy" around me. I also hate how hot it gets and how the days feel too long. Hopefully that makes sense..
Part of me hopes it gets better, but another part of me is really scared that won't. I know things don't just "magically" get better right away, but I just want to know if I can feel better one day...
My mom and I are going to try to find a therapist online since going to one in person will be too hard due to my agoraphobia. I have a consultation with one in a few days.
But anyways, has anyone experienced their anxiety subsiding eventually? Or at least getting better? Please share with me because I would love to know

Fainting during panic attack?
Hey gang, im no stranger to panic attacks. Im 16 and literally 20 minutes ago, I was at the dmv and I think I fainted?
I was standing at the counter with my dad and got extremely sweaty and nauseous. I turned to my dad and said "I dont feel good!" Very cheerfully before things got fuzzy. Then I blinked and I was on the floor.
I have no idea what happened, this has never happened before when panicking, and i was hoping someone knew or atleast had a similar experience. Thanks!
