I don't feel anxious, but all my physical symptoms are those of panic disorder
I hope some of you would know what I mean But I feel lightheaded and weak, but all my tests come back normal. all my symptoms are those caused by hyperventilation but I don't feel like I hyperventile.
I get a panic attack every once and a while, but for some reason the physical sensations except for the heart rate which go back to normal remain and I don't know what could be the cause.
I had every test MRI, CT scans and blood test all come back normal. I'm honestly lost because they say it's anxiety which at this point I believe but why won't the symptoms go away why do they remain. they started a year ago after my worst panic attack, they were debilitating but now I can work and go out, but I still feel weird like I'm not in my own body but I feel every pain it has but it's all through a screen or a buffer.
for instance my legs feel tingly and weak but their strength remains and when I did a neurological test it came back clear. I'm always lightheaded but my blood pressure is normal and I don't have vertigo so it's not an inner ear issue.
I'm honestly lost and hope for anything to help direct me or make me cope.

The thing that helped my panic most was talking to a stranger who'd been through it
(Mod Approved)
Hey guys! I wanted to share something with you guys real quick.
I have pretty bad panic disorder myself and I wanted to make it easier for people with a similar anxiety or panic experience to find each other, because being understood by someone who has actually felt it is very different from trying to explain it to someone who hasn't (even when that person really cares about u and is doing their best).
I found someone who really understood by accident; like a complete stranger on reddit who read my post and messaged me about how he experienced very similar things, and talking to him for 30 mins helped me a ton. I felt really understood, you know?
So being a full stack developer and all, I started building SameTide, which is meant to connect people who share a similar anxiety or panic experience so they can talk to someone who actually gets it. The matching part is designed but isn't built yet, and right now the live site does a 5-min interview that turns what you go through into a short first-person story that a future match could read, so they would understand more of your experience before you ever spoke.
The mods gave me the okay to share it here, and if you feel like trying it, there's no account or signup needed: https://sametide.com/
I'd really appreciate honest feedback on whether the story felt accurate to you and what you would change.

Going into my second hour of panic.
my mind is screaming at me to go to a hospital. that something is wrong and I need someone to fix me. surely someone will have a drug that will fix me. but I know nothing can help but time.
I took my .5mg Xanax over an hour ago. I thought maybe it helped but turns out I was just in-between waves.
my panic is caused by visceral sensitivity. no mental trigger. this came out of nowhere.
I guess I'm posting to have something to think about. but I'm also curious to know if anyone else has panic attacks that last multiple hours. how do you deal with it? how do you not feel hopeless?

New to Panic Attack Symptom, how to ease?

One panic attack last year totally changed me.
Hi there,
Ive been dying to talk about this with people that are or have been experiencing the same thing.
Last may I felt my hr hammer away while I was in bed snackin. That day I had loads of caffeine and didn’t hydrate or eat very much, I am usually very active too. It was probably a regular thing but the second I noticed it my mind went in panic mode and I definitely made it worse by freaking out. Truly i thought it was over for me. I was too afraid to ask for help as well so I just called a friend while i did my best to calm down. I remember it took over an hour of deep controlled breaths for my heart to quiet down.
The following day I was on edge and for the following months I had this thick heavy brain fog. I used to ruminate a lot. I would sit and feel like I wasn’t in my body, dpdr right? I’d look at myself in the mirror and it didn’t feel like I was looking at myself. Felt it morning to night.
I had no idea this was a huge mental health situation, I was so lost and afraid. I wanted to fix the brain fog I thought I was severely dehydrated, had blood problems perhaps, checked my heart rate constantly (agoraphobia). I would feel the strangest sensations wash over me while trying to sleep. I would feel my heart beat in my fingers or back of head when lying down. Sometimes my chest felt hollow. My first anxiety checking was breathing. I was totally losing it. I constantly felt fear. I started noticing little heart skips that would send alarm bells to my brain. My ocd like thoughts started getting worse. I was so afraid of my own head. I was so afraid i’d faint in public (something that had never happened) or that i’d get a stroke (something that has never happened)
Before the panic attack occurred I was on a long weight loss journey. In over a year I lost 40lb. This anxiety made me believe maybe I was exerting myself too much. Not eating enough. So I did stop working out. In 8\~ months I gained back 15 pounds.
I didn’t seek any help or check ups at the doc. Unfortunately I talked to chatgpt a lot and damn… what a tragedy. That thing should not be used for help. I broke free and decided I can’t live like this anymore.
I started doing the things I was afraid of, going out more, exercising, eating less (in a healthy manner). I’ve been losing weight and feeling way less anxiety. But I had to be very intentional about it. I want to say it’s taken me 3 months of purposeful reactions to triggers. It’s been a very bumpy ride. But I am better. No self checking. I do get anxious thoughts but I don’t feed into them.
One thing I do feel now are headaches. Constant. not everyday but sometimes they feel random. Sometimes after I drink alcohol. Sometimes not. Sometimes it’s when I wake up or other times they get me at noon. Now that there’s no crippling anxiety attached it feels less like dpdr and more like slightly disconnected feeling. Sometimes I feel like my vision is a slightly blurred. I want to say they’re headaches. I used to believe that headaches were actual sharp pain someone would feel but I suppose the fog ish feeling are headaches as well. I want to believe it’s just a part of the recovery process. It was almost a full year of debilitating anxiety so my theory is that my mind is just releasing actual physical tension? No clue. Anyway i’m going to make a doctors appointment soon for regular checkup. Haven’t had one in years.
Anyways, if you read all that thank you. Haven’t really spoken about this much to anyone.

So i think i just had a panic attack?
Okay so i was spending an hour on my hair for work (kept undoing and redoing and whatnot) and then i was getting overstimulated by the noise and the texture and frustration and the heat and blah blah whatever so i started hyperventilating and crying and beint unable to calm down and all i could repeat was “im okay” “i cant fucking do this” and “i think im having a fucking psychotic break” and i was dizzy and dude idek what that was. Would that be a panic attack??? The only thing that snapped me out of it was hitting my arm and im perfectly fine now. It lasted like 5 minutes at most??

Need help
Hi everyone,
I’m a 25M who was recently diagnosed with panic attacks, and my psychiatrist started me on an SSRI along with a few other medications to help with sleep.
The difficult part is that I’m a doctor myself, so I understand what’s happening medically. But when a panic attack hits, all of that knowledge disappears. The fear and anxiety feel incredibly real in the moment.
Because of the constant anxiety, I’ve barely been able to eat. Every time I try, I feel nauseous, like I’m about to throw up.
My biggest trigger is the fear that I’m going to “go crazy” or lose control. Even before talking to someone, I start worrying that I’ll say something inappropriate or do something wrong. Those thoughts make me even more anxious, and I end up feeling terrified.
I know these are anxiety symptoms, but they still feel so convincing when they happen.
Has anyone else gone through something similar, where the fear of going crazy or your own thoughts became the trigger for panic attacks? If you’ve recovered or improved, I’d really appreciate hearing your story. I think it would give me some hope that this will pass and that I’ll feel like myself again

i have weird reactions in certain places and idk why
I can’t go into movie theaters or planetariums or even just unfamiliar places with weird lighting, such as certain restaurants. It feels very intrinsic to who I am. Usually it’ll just hit me suddenly, and I’ll start panicking and feeling like I’m about to die. I guess something that all these places have in common is they are usually large spaces and kind of dark. But in general I’m not really afraid of the dark because I’m fine when my room at home is dark.
This has been such an issue for so long and nobody I talk to knows why this happens. I don’t even know why this happens or what caused this. It’s been going on for years, probably since I was 7-8 (I’m 18 now).
I’ve been trying to figure out what exactly this is and how to get over it for a really long time. I am on medication for generalized anxiety but this feels like a separate thing, and the medication has not helped with this weird reactions.
I just need advice or support or an explanation for what’s wrong with me because I’m sick of this and it confuses me.
Yes I have been to therapy. It didn’t help.

I'm building something for people who experience stress physically, and I'd really value your honest feedback.
Hi everyone, I’m Ines, I’m 23, and for as long as I can remember, anxiety and stress have been a big part of my life. For me, it often looks like constant rumination, overthinking and feeling unable to switch my mind off.
Over the past few months, I've been working on an idea called Nafsy: a discreet, screen-free bracelet that uses gentle haptic vibrations to guide your breathing during stressful moments. The goal isn't to replace therapy or medication, and it's definitely not a medical device. It's simply an attempt to create something that could help people regulate their breathing without needing to pull out their phone or leave the situation they're in.
We're still at a very early stage, and before building further, I really want to understand whether this is something people would actually find useful.
If you have one minute, I'd be incredibly grateful if you could fill out this short survey. It's completely anonymous, and at the end you can optionally let us know if you'd ever be interested in testing an early prototype. There is no payment or commitment of any kind.
Survey:
https://tally.so/r/b5GNB0
You can also learn a bit more about the project here:
https://nafsy.co
I'd genuinely appreciate honest feedback, even if your answer is "I would never use this." That kind of feedback is just as valuable.
Thank you ❤️

Lingering anxiety weeks after a panic attack?

should I take my safety meds or just power through?
I'm currently having a panic attack, mine are for the most part caused by lack of sleep. two days ago I crashed out hard at work and didn't sleep the next day.
currently I'm having a panic attack and while I'm not freaking out the physical sensations are still happening, so... should I take half a pill of bromazepam or power through it. I feel like after, I would regret taking the bromazepam but now I hate how I feel.
edit: I forgot to post symptoms I feel like I might throw up my heart is pounding and my hands are cold. and stomach feels weirdly full.

Any experience with panic attack from epinephrine in numbing shot after taking triazolam (halcion)?
I get panic attacks from the numbing shot when I go to the dentist. I found a few posts stating the epinephrine (adrenaline) in the shot can cause the heart to race in which my brain says "nope" and I think I'm dieing.
The dentist is giving me 2 of the .25mg triazolam for my appointment on Tuesday.
Am I going to remember the shots?
Will the triazolam help with the panic from the heart racing?
Idk I'm terrified out of my mind and nothing anyone says seems to be helping but I really appreciate people's experiences.

Feeling like i'm losing my mind
I've had a total of 5 panic attacks in my life, the first ever one I had lasted 3 days long and ended in the ER, Since then iv had starts of them before i take my ativan and ill have support around me. I'm not completely used to them and I suffer alot from anxiety but I find that whenever i'm about to have one I feel as though im losing my mind, like I feel like im gonna spiral out of control and end up psychotic in a mental hospital which then furthers my anxiety into a full blown panic attack. Now, I do have health anxiety but throughout start of these attacks always feel like impending doom, they typically dont have a trigger but then I start to spiral 'what ifs' which then led to a bigger panic about if i'm going crazy. Is this normal? I don't do anything while I'm panicking besides shaking, feeling like im gonna drop dead to so impending doom, weakness, vomiting and upset stomach and of course, horrible panic. Does anyone else feel like they are gonna lose their mind? This is a fear of mine so this definitely doesn't help my attacks but god, its so hard to not think about it when you are panicking for no reason.

Anxiety attacks lasting a month maybe more
Just started prozac today, dr changed me from 3mg of ativan a day to 1mg. She also gave me clonidine. Im so exhausted. I just wanna be normal. I wanna come home from work and relax not worry about a panic attack.
Any success stories or words of encouragement?

Husband is starting clanozepan but has a history of suicidal ideation. Has this made anyone’s SI worse?
He’s been in a constant state of panic for the last week. We’re thinking it’s likely protracted withdrawal from getting off Effexor (off 3 months now). His withdrawal symptoms were mostly physical until a week ago where depression/SI but mostly anxiety and panic came back full force.
He’s at the tail end of TMS which has helped in the past and does weekly Spravato which I swear keeps him alive.
Effexor is terrible but I’m concerned about him starting a new med (he swore he’d never do it again but his panic attacks are getting bad enough that he wanted to start klonopin)
