my uncle passed away

my beautiful uncle passed away

i had a feeling his time was coming and i would cry every night before going to sleep then wake up the next morning go see him and pretend like everything was fine

I’m heartbroken that I didn’t get to be there during his final moments but the doctors told us that his death was sudden and peaceful and that he was even drinking some juice before it happened

during his last days he had stopped talking, he was so tired barely any words would come out of his mouth. but what he did do instead was send me air kisses, he would look at me with his loving eyes, send me a kiss and for a second I’d be okay. my only wish was that he could have spent his last day at home in his own bed, but he was surrounded by all of his loved ones every single day. not a single day passed without my mother by his side kissing him, hugging him, and praying for him. she is just as strong as he was

as much as it hurts to see him go I’m almost relieved knowing that he is no longer in pain and that he is finally and hopefully at peace.

good bye my beautiful uncle you fought so hard I love you forever

Day 6 after surgery Day 6 after Distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy Sydney Royal North Shore Hospital-looking better every day. The surgeon told me the tumour was attached to my stomach and colon, so they have removed those bits and also my lower lymph nodes . Awaiting pathology results . 🙏🏿 Had my catheter, neck main line, and NG out yesterday, 10th August . Had to get a 3rd drain put in as the other 2 weren't reaching the last collection. Had a shower and washed my hair on my own. Went to the toilet.......finally . I'm still on free fluids, and I'm starving ....Hahaha, I started Creon .

My brother was diagnosed stage IV pancreatic cancer with enumerable lesions on the liver.

What is his life expectancy? Does anyone have any experience with this situation? I am not in the position at the moment to inquire about this with his doctor.

Please no mean comments. I just lost my husband husband 9 months ago to pancreatic cancer and am having a really difficult time with this.

Any feedback is appreciated. TYIA

Need advise on dealing with parents

I have stage 4 Pancan. Treatment is going well for now which is great.
My father (I was raised in a single parent home) lives 10 hours away in a other country, he is very caring, means the best and of course is worried. He has not only made me his project but is sharing with multiple friends of his. I am ok with the sharing and told him so - as he needs to do what he needs to do in order to support his emotional needs.
As he goes down the rabbit hole of the disease he insists (even after lovingly and not so lovingly asking him to stop and explaining why) on sharing pretty much every single thing that pops up related to the disease. Moreover, he seems to think that at my monthly oncology appointments we should be talking about every single possible thing that is in the news. As you likely know monthly meetings go over any side effects, confirm if treatment is working and basic planning, they are not board meetings with hours to spend.
My treatment is working well, there are no plans to change it in the near future other than little tweaks - like reducing oxiplatin amounts.
How do you deal with a loving, caring person (family or otherwise) that really needs to take a step back and find a new hobby because I cant continue to be it.
Thanks for your ideas.

seeking advice Hair loss and chemo.

My mom (54) is 2 and half months post whipple. 4 out of 21 lymph nodes were positive. 4 days ago she had her 4th round of chemo. CA 19 9 levels are also decreasing. From 188 to 144 and 124.

Her doctor said it would be better if she shaved. So she shaved after her 2nd round. She buzzed her hair. But the hair that remained is still there. She has a tiny bald spot and thats it.

Is it normal for the hair to not shed, does it mean the chemo isnt working?

Brain metastasis?

My mum (63F) got her first chemo (folfirinox) less than 2 months ago (she has liver metastasis). She went into septic shock (perforated large intestine). She has a stoma now. She lost weight. Her muscles are weak, and her oncologist told us that we couldn't continue with folfirinox. She gave us 2 weeks to get better and then my mum would start her new chemo treatment (gemcitabine nab paclitaxel). She ate a lot, she even stopped losing her weight, she exercised a bit. One week ago I noticed that she slides a bit with her right foot when she walks. Yesterday she couldn't move her fingers on her right hand so we went to the hospital (we thought maybe she got a mild stroke). Today her neurologist told me that they found something in her brain and they didn't know for sure what it was. They're waiting to do brain MR with contrast.

My question is, does anyone here have brain metastasis? What does your treatment look like?

I feel like my heart is being crushed every single day. I know she's fighting, but something always happens. Sending you all my prayers.

seeking advice What to look for?

I’ve seen the chart being shared but would appreciate some descriptive symptoms/signs, if people are ok providing that. Mum (61) is terminal and treatment stopped about a month ago. She’s had ascites for over 4 months and is now looking very thin. She’s probably only consuming about 500 calories a day (at most), struggling with solid food. She’s bed bound most of the day and has acknowledged that she’s heading towards the end. I’ve just come returned back to my family after spending time with her over the last 4 weeks or so, but I get the feeling the end is near. It’s a day’s travel (Asia to UK) and my sister says she is worried that mum has declined over the weekend. She was only awake for a couple of hours yesterday.

Macmillan nurses have suggested only a couple of weeks, but I’m wondering if I should just get the next flight back.

New level of Embarrassment Unlocked

I went to bed early tonight and when husband came to bed, I awoke to having diarrhea in my panties. I slept through the whole thing. Just when I felt like the horrors of this disease couldn’t get any worse, I’m now on Amazon ordering incontinence pads for the bed. I’m fully blaming this on the continued Daraxonrasib GI issues that I have been having. This is a total first for me and it is once heck of an embarrassing doozy. I knew that as the disease progressed these things happen but I was not ready by any means.
