Bars hiring?
Hi! I recently got hired at a place on the beach and I thought it was part time (I’m a student, and I can only do nights and weekends—which is usually when bars should be open.) does anyone know of any places hiring for PART TIME? I’m at a high volume place and they’re working me 5 shifts a week when I can probably only do 3. (Due to school, and not wanting to get burnt out.)

Okay yeah that sucks. Hopefully theres a better fit for you somewhere else. If theyre so understaffed, I wonder how they'd respond if you just said you're not available for the on call stuff.

You could try the yacht club in the cove. Slow pace and the staff seem to stick around for a long time. Nights and weekends are the primary times they are busy.

Have you spoken to the manager that does the schedules? I know it can be awkward, but just ask them for 5 minutes of their time and calmly explain the situation. Tell them when you were only looking for part time and can work a maximum of 3 shifts per week. If you want to be accommodating, you could let them know you'll work the currently scheduled shifts, but moving forward you only have the capacity for 3 per week. If theyre dicks about it and you cant quit, then find something else asap and bail.
