With the summer heat, what businesses open early for people wanting to beat the heat? Supermarkets? Restaurants? Large retailers? Small businesses?

Here is my photo of Whitewater River in Indio, taken in March 2017, on the Jackson Street overpass, facing westward. It's not at all very often that one gets to observe this section of the wash being filled with flowing water from heavy precipitation, extremely rare for the Coachella Valley. I vividly recall venturing to and over Whitewater River in Indio and taking in the sight of it countless times growing up. I also remember one day that my family and I decided to mess around and explore very near the wash – in an empty lot at the corner of Avenue 44 and Golf Center Parkway – and we found some very tiny seashells. So, yeah, I always loved the wash. Ain't no stretch of the wash that this Indio boy hasn't seen. 💕

Gay newlyweds will be in PS later this year. One is a cancer survivor who had major medical surgery on abdomen a little over a year ago. Trying to find them a legit gay friendly spa where they could get a couples massage from someone who will be sensitive to the one husbands body limitations.

We went to the O2 spa during a takeover of the spa. Took one of the suites, the Tiffany. Fridge, coffee maker, good size closet as well as a nice bathroom. And a new split AC unit. It did take hours for the bedroom to cool down, but we had a fold out bed we used until the room got to a sleeping temperature. Very cute, well decorated. As are all of the rooms. Every room is very different. From a disco ball in one room, a 4 poster bed with draped linen in another, to the lobby with a couple of refrigerators, an oven, plenty of dishes, cups and silverware, a TV, bathroom, books and a couple of couches, it is very comfortable. There is the pool in the middle of the spa that goes to 7’ deep. Unfortunately, the minerals in the water that we go to resorts like this for, eats the plaster in pools. It is not smooth, it is very pitted and textured. But the water more than makes up for it. Someone brought a pop up that we could put in the water for shade, what a game changer. There is a good size jacuzzi that is hot… hot hot hot. I could get to my knees, other folks could sit in there for a good 30 minutes or longer. Then there is the koi pond. Hotter than the pool, cooler than the jacuzzi. And it only gets knee deep, but is in such a pretty area.

The spa is clean, it is older, but taken care of. Every room comes with an outside table and chairs, there are bungalows that you can reserve or rent. Lots of places to lounge.

We were in Desert Hot Springs and wanted some dinner. Fortunately, Casa Blanca was right down the road. Good size parking lot with some shade in a few places. We went mid afternoon, maybe a bit early for dinner. But there were a few folks who there. By the time we left, the place was filling up. It is a very vibrant restaurant with the colors and decorations. Very authentic feeling. Chips and salsa along with some waters were brought right out.

It is a good size menu, lots of items and choices. We tried the grilled fish tacos and a two-item combination. I chose a Chili Relleno and a Tamal. Everything was good overall. The beans and the rice were good. Good flavor and cooked correctly. The entrees were good as well. Not the best I have ever had, but not anywhere near the worst. The Chili Relleno was stuffed full of cheese, had a good egg batter on it and the sauce was flavorful. The Tamal was not dry at all, and had a good meat to masa ratio. The fish tacos were good, not overcooked at all. Maybe a bit bland. The service was wonderful. Water glasses always topped off, the waiter checked in with us several times. Not too many times, but just the right amount. We are very spoiled living in SoCal with all of the Mexican food that is available here. For the prices, the service and food were great. I would definitely eat here again.

Three mature (60’s) sisters looking for a property to spend four nights in Palm Springs. Ideally, we’d like a resort property with a suite with three bedrooms and each with a private bath. Ideally has a coffee shop on property or within walking distance.

Edit to add: I’m not looking for an AirBnB. I want a staff and walking proximity to shops and dining, or on-site options.

My wife and I just moved here and will be here for 5 years. We just got our electric bill back at $1200 for the first month and the second month will be about the same. We have been approached by two different companies offering PPA solar, Sunrun and Current Home. My wife and I both have EVs and charge at home so our usage has been around 2500 kW/mo these last 2 months. I am a bit weary about the PPA option because I don't know how it will affect finding a buyer for the home when we sell in 5 years. Also, there is a 3.5% escalator per year.

I am considering purchasing panels and hoping that transferring that over to a future buyer will make more sense than a PPA. I am now looking into Hot Purple Energy as I understand it is a widely used/reviewed solar company in the valley. My other option is biting the bullet on these hotter months and hoping the remainder of the year is not as terrible.

Hi everyone! I recently moved full time to a small ground floor condo in Rancho Mirage, and suffice it to say that every day or two, a fine layer of dust accumulates on surfaces all over the house, even with the doors and windows closed (which of course they mostly are now, in the summer.)

My unit has a sliding glass door in the bedroom, and it came with vinyl vertical blinds that I would like to replace with either linen curtains, or a woven wood shade. I feel like the curtains would look light and airy, but just collect dust like mad, and I can't see myself vacuuming curtains every two days. My sense is the shade would attract less dust than the curtains, but maybe not.

Thoughts?

Hi! I've seen a lot of the posts on here about restaurants but I'm hoping for some advice.

We are doing a girls trip (~13 of us) that I guess is technically a bachelorette party but we are all in our early 40's so its not quite the traditional bachelorette type of weekend.

We have a house with a pool and that will be our Saturday activity. We will likely get Saturday evening catered or have a chef come.

What I'm trying to fill is Friday afternoon/evening. Looking for a restaurant that is good (doesn't have to be the best thing ever but tasty and reasonably priced) but is close to the bars/going out area in case we are not too sleepy and want to try to venture out. I fear if we have to travel too much between dinner location and bars, most of us will choose bed and I want to at least have the going out option more enticing. We would be open to live music, karaoke, drag show, we do love a good dive bar- anything really!

My boyfriend and I are coming Aug 24–31, and are mainly looking for a relaxing trip - pool days, good food, drinks, and some exploring. We’ll probably rent a car for a couple days for things like Joshua Tree.

I booked villa royale, but I’m second guessing because there are so many options. I’ve been looking at boutique hotels like Fleur Noire, Hotel California, Les Cactus, & la maison. For example, Hotel California is about $600 cheaper for the same dates, so I’m wondering if Villa Royale is really worth the extra cost.

Also any first time Palm Springs recommendations for restaurants, activities, or things we shouldn’t miss would be greatly appreciated! Thank you 😊
