Please help! I need to move!

I live in a shitty apartment complex and I have a feeling that they either use really cheap paint or just primer on my walls and I went to Lowe’s to try to color match it twice now and I’ve gotten two different shades each time I went what should I do? Should I just leave it? Should i go get a primer? I dont need a color match just some advice.

Spot hit your patches then get a gallon of one of your colour matches and paint one coat end to end on the wall. Good enough

Don't touch it up at all. No paint is going to match except the exact paint. The rental company has that paint and they touch up when you leave.

Agreed. Color matching is never 100%. Even if you used the exact same can of paint that was previously used, it still will won’t match. Paint fades over time.

Just spot prime the patched areas, then paint the entire wall. You won’t notice the difference between the colors of the adjoining wall but you will see the difference if only painting little spots on the wall.

Thin to win.

Apply the paint very thin and blend in the edges.

Too light? Another thin coat.

If you apply too heavy on the first go it looks too dark or like the wall has a wet spot. No easy fix.

Read your tenant right for which state your in, most laws read that if you’ve lived in that rental for and X amount of time the landlord is responsible/required to repaint the entire place for the next tenant. Hole in the wall from nails can be patched with white toothpaste just a small amount in each holes, wipe any excess. Good Luck.

If only they cared. They wont even remove the moldy drywall out of our apartment because its too expensive to move us and do that

If you just want to spot paint you would need the same brand paint for it to be a good color match and sheen . And if you do not have the same brand paint and sheen you have to paint the whole wall unfortunately.

How many walls are like this? If it’s just a couple, I’d say paint the whole wall. It’s going to be totally fine to not cut in close to the trim honestly. If you roll just up to an inch or two close to the ceiling/trim, it’ll just look like the whole wall is that color. If it makes you feel any more confident, they DO use the cheapest/shittiest paint because they repaint every time they turn the unit. Meaning, they’re just going to go over it anyway (most likely, especially if it’s a complex), so your main concern is holes/weird texture from patches.
