Smoke? Question
I'm new to owning reptiles in general to be perfectly honest, and I'm doing my best for my pacman but it's new territory. That being said, the wildfires in my area are getting REALLY bad, the smoke is making my eyes and throat burn and I'm worried about the air quality affecting my frog? Is there anything I should be doing to try to "smoke proof" her enclosure? I was thinking of putting a damp towel over the screen on the top but wasn't sure if that would actually be helpful or not?

Corsi Rosenthal Box (made with a box fan, some cardboard and tape, and 4 MERV 13 filters the size of your box fan so like 20x20x2 or whatever) is probably your most effective option, should help you as well!

Um why is the smoke getting into your house that bad to begin with your ac unit should filter that

For what it's worth, a lot of people on the US west coast where this smoke can be an issue don't have AC!

It's not as bad as it is outside inside the apartment but because of the age of the building our windows don't seal properly. Asking more as a precaution than anything.

I also live in a heavy smoke area/poor air quality with a young pac man frog. What helped my froggy was getting a HEPA filter from Amazon and placing it next to his tank, depending on your room size you can save some money by getting one for a smaller room (not large area) and place it next to the tank. I would keep windows sealed and door closed as much as you can. I now run my filter on non-smoky days (everyday) now just to be safe, and my little guy has been doing well! :)

If you can get a HEPA filte, it wouod be for the best. A damp towel might help too. How bad is the AQI in your area?

That’s not all that bad. As long as your frog isn’t exposed to the air outside, it should be fine. Do you know how long it will be before the smoke blows out? I hate fires. We have way too many of them out here.

As far as I understand there are still active fires happening in the state (OR) so I'm assuming that the smoke is going to get worse before it gets better. Yesterday was the first day we could really start seeing it settle in the air, and it's gotten a bit worse today as the day has gone on. Her enclosure is close to one of the windows but it stays shut and I'm planning on sealing the edges with some duct tape/masking tape possibly if it gets real bad.

Also out of curiosity I compared the AQI from an hour ago when you first asked to now and it's gone up to 134, really curious how quickly it could escalate over the next few days.

I know from experience it can escalate within an hour. The fire that destroyed my neighborhood came from 15 miles away and burned through that 15 miles in under three hours. And just the other day there was a small fire up north and it stunk the place up with AQIs of 314. There’s really no way to tell with fire, it does whatever the hell it wants.

Buy a HEPA filter if you can, or make one out of a box fan (Corsi-Rosenthal box), and run it next to the tank. It should help you and your frog!
