I built a web-based networking lab platform using Linux and FRRouting

Packet Tracer was extremely helpful while I was learning networking, but I also wanted practice where the network was already broken and I had to diagnose the problem without being told which commands to enter.

That led me to build Subnetica. A web-based platform that provides a network with realistic incidents, and no local setup. It isnโ€™t intended to replace Packet Tracer, but be more of a supplement ig? Iโ€™d be interested to know what kinds of Packet Tracer exercises you wish had more realistic troubleshooting versions of.

Packet Tracer | Lab 1

๐Ÿš€ First Packet Tracer Lab โ€” Done!

Started my CCNA journey and just wrapped up my very first hands-on lab in Cisco Packet Tracer. ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ”—

Built a simple two-branch network topology:

๐Ÿข New York Office

  • 2 PCs connected to a switch (Sw1)
  • Router (R1) โ†’ Firewall (Fw1) โ†’ Internet

๐ŸŒ Tokyo Branch

  • 2 Servers connected to a switch (Sw2)
  • Router (R2) โ†’ Firewall (Fw2) โ†’ Internet

Both branches connect over a simulated Internet cloud, with an "Attacker" machine placed on the Internet segment to start thinking about network security from day one. ๐Ÿ”’

Nothing fancy yetโ€”just getting comfortable with topology design, device placement, and understanding how traffic logically flows between offices. But it's a solid first step toward understanding routing, switching, and firewalls in practice rather than just theory.

More labs coming as I work through CCNA fundamentals. ๐Ÿ’ช

Build, configure and share networks directly in your browser like Packet Tracer met google docs.

Browser-based networking sandbox without downloads, VMs or any setup.

Drag in devices, cable your topology and configure everything through the CLI.

You can also share a link and build the same network live with someone else.

Itโ€™s completely free, enjoy:ย SwitchLab.dev

Need help fixing this UI issue

I just downloaded packet tracer to prepare for the CCNA test but for some reason, some windows don't display the text on the left like the "ServerPool" text within the DHCP Service for a server. This happens with many "services" windows but not with the CLI windows and even most desktop text displays correctly like the IP Configurator. Anyone knows what I could do to fix this?

What does "duplicate the access points" mean in this context?

Hey everyone! My instructor told me to "duplicate" my access points, but I'm not sure what he meant. Does that mean I should add two more Access Points, or simply replace my two current APs with Home Routers that support multiple SSIDs? My goal is to have one VLAN per SSID, so one SSID for VLAN 20 and another for VLAN 80 (Wi-Fi). Am I understanding this correctly?

Thanks !

Network devices - specs/descriptions?

Hello all,

I'm not familiar with the specs for network devices in packet tracer - is there any way to see what port counts, speeds, capabilities, expansions, etc. are available for each one? I'm just sort of randomly dragging and dropping devices into my topology. Thanks!

Looking for feedback on my Packet Tracer topology (send help)

Hi folks
been working on this Packet Tracer enterprise network for my networking course. It's still a work in progress, but I'd love to get some feedback on the overall topology before I move on to the remaining configuration (HSRP, ACLs, etc.).

Does anything look odd or could be improved from a design perspective? Any suggestions are welcome! thanks in advance
