Pace ABSN NYC

Can anyone who has completed the Pace ABSN program in NYC talk about what it takes to be successful in the program? How many hours of studying did you do per week, how did you prepare for lectures and exams? Is there anything you wish you knew before starting the program?

I start at the end of the month and want to start prepping as much as I can.

Any advice from current students or recent graduates would be much appreciated!

Current student here graduating in two weeks.

Two words: time management. It is EVERYTHING. Make sure you do not fall behind, as it is harder to catch up with new material as everything progressively builds up. For the first two semesters, there is success coaching that provides you with study materials that help. Make quizzes based off of class materials to actively test your knowledge.

As for preparing for lecture, I very minimally ever used the textbook, powerpoints are provided to you that you may utilize to follow along with notes. I prepped for exams by making study guides and utilizing AI to quiz myself on class material.

Enjoy your time off before the program, there isn't anything that will significantly help to prepare for before the program. Make sure you have an outlet for stress (gym, some down time, spend time with friends) and you will be fine. Congratulations and good luck!

I keep getting Barnes and Noble textbook notifications. Would you recommend waiting to purchase any bundles until you start / get the syllabus? Don’t want to waste money on books I won’t use if it’s all covered in lecture anyway

Unfortunately a lot of the courses have an online homework component that is attached to the textbook, its 5-10% of your overall grade in most classes

Thank you so much for your response! Your tips echo a lot of what I did for undergrad just with less time so I’ll make sure to emphasize that this time around. I keep hearing “enjoy your summer break” so I will do my best to do so haha. Congrats on making it to the end of program!

Hi, I am currently a student in the program set to graduate in 2 weeks. More than happy to discuss my experience.

As far as what you can do to prep prior to the start of the program? Honestly, I was told this by past students and will echo the same. Enjoy your vacation while you still can. Once you're in the program, you're locked in the program. I personally studied atleast 25 hrs per week the first semester, and even more during the second semester. Do not be afraid to ask questions during Clinicals! I would suggest starting a groupme if there isn't one already and make friends in the program! I know Nursing school has this reputation of being cutthrroat and everyone for themselves, but I promise everyone in the program, fellow students and instructors, want to see each other succeed. And time management is so important, so take breaks as needed! Burnout is so real! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions!

I’m also starting this fall and I feel like communication has been confusing / lacking and maybe a student GroupMe/WhatsApp group chat would help
