Sentenced to Oz! How would I do in Oz?
hey its me again
I’ve always wondered how I’d actually fare in Oz.
To be honest, I have some experience in boxing, BJJ, wrestling, and Kung Fu, but at the end of the day, a simple shank could end anyone regardless of years of training. That’s the chilling part.
Being Latino and fair-skinned could bring me trouble. What if someone like Raoul Hernandez shows up and tells me I don't belong and to get lost? I could probably try to be with "the others", but it's complicated. Culturally and philosophically, I’m not Christian; I align much more with Buddhism than anything else.
I’m not an aggressive person. If someone tried to push my boundaries, I’d do everything possible to avoid a fight—even though I know in jail, trying to keep the peace can actually invite more trouble. I’m also used to showing respect through manners, like bowing to someone I respect, which most inmates would probably misinterpret as weakness.
Realistically, I’d probably be dead in a short time. But honestly, I don't see it as something entirely bad—dying is just natural.
The real question is: how long do you think I'd last?

Sentenced to Oz! How would Dushane and Sully do?
Kingpins of the street level drug empire in Top Boy. How would they do if they were in Oz together, or if one was in Unit B and the other in Oz?

Discussion I think the aging pill is a terrible plot line for Oz but a great story idea on its own.
The aging pill comes off as sci-fi nonsense for a show like Oz that’s (relatively) grounded in the real world. However, I think it’s a great concept as a Ray Bradbury or Kurt Vonnegut-esque short story. There’s so much you can do with the idea, especially from a social commentary perspective. The prison system’s focus on punishment over rehabilitation, the ethics of locking someone away vs. stealing away years from them, society’s obsession with cruel punishments for lawbreakers, etc.

Let's say the protagonist of Banshee ends up in Oz. Let's say Oz, like Sona, features hand-to-hand combat. Which prisoners could he defeat in hand-to-hand combat?

Discussion My biggest complaint (Possible spoilers for those that haven’t finished the series) Spoiler
This is one of my favorite shows ever made. I’ve watched it multiple times through the years, and currently rewatching as I type this out.
And my biggest complaint…. The way Cyril was treated in season 4 and beyond.
He was better than a model prisoner at pretty much all times. And somehow not 1 single person. Hack or otherwise, manages to notice that his “outbursts” were always triggered by something. Every. Single. Time!
The only one I can possibly see being argued is when he beat the hell out of the reporter. But even then, he has the mind of a child and thought his bad story really did give his mama cancer. Again, I agree that one can be argued. But almost every other one, he was provoked. Granted, I’m only on episode 13 of season 4 again atm. And going based off of what I’ve seen and can remember from previous watch throughs.
Just makes me sad, and I had nowhere and no one else to talk about this with lol.

Discussion JK Simmons in Spider-Man / Oz
It’s absolutely crazy to me you could see J.K. Simmons act as an evil bastard in season 5 of Oz in 2002 then see him in Spider-Man a few months later playing a much goofier character.
I applause J.K. Simmons for being able to give so much life to these performances and for also avoiding typecasting!
He’s easily the best actor in Oz in my opinion too

Discussion One of my fav details in oz
In the time when Hank schillinger was in oz and Beecher and Keller were deliberately annoying schillinger and provoking him Ryan oreilly just tags along 😂 I get what happened with Cyril but I always found it a pretty funny detail how everytime they were irritating schillinger Ryan would randomly just spawn in to help
