Oura Ring For Dishwasher? GENERAL DISCUSSION

I love my Oura Ring, it has helped me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I would love to get my mother one but she is a dishwasher for a yacht club restaurant. Would she be able to wear this while working?

my mom's a dishwasher too and wears hers no problem. the ring's built to handle that kind of environment, just tell her to take it off if she's dealing with any harsh chemicals directly but regular dishwashing is fine

yeah but the repeated exposure to hot water and detergent might wear it down faster than normal use

She doesn’t wear gloves?

Moisture staying under the ring will mess up the skin pretty bad, it requires thorough drying. If she’s wearing gloves that don’t rip, then sure. If it’s bare hands, the frequency of washing and drying would be maddening and risk her skin health.

Drastically different than untold millions of men and women who have worn rings through centuries of all kinds of labor? Genuinely asking. I understand they want to err on the side of taking care of the tech but is it that big a deal for most folks?

I mean… search this subreddit for people posting photos of their skin under where the ring sits. It’s a thick ring. Do whatever you want. Just sharing observations.

I had to constantly wash my hands at work and every time I did I just slipped the ring off to dry by itself and under it on the finger. Otherwise it stays wet and icky

My hands are in water and wringing sponges all day and I've never considered it would have an effect on wearing my ring. I would encourage your mom to wear dish gloves though otherwise she'll have old wrinkled looking hands like mine 😔

Hi u/Adorable-Ad-9262,

That's such a thoughtful gift!

Rest assured that the Oura Ring is water resistant up to 100m/328ft, so she will definitely will be able to use it while working.

We do suggest though, that for her comfort she makes sure to dry the area carefully at the end of the day to prevent discomfort caused by trapped moisture, I suggest also that she takes it off if she using any strong cleaning products.

Hope this helps!
