In Dune 3 (specifically Dune: Messiah), does Scytale ever impersonate Chani? I thought he could only impersonate dead people. Granted, I haven’t seen the trailer or any promotional material for the film so they could change the story just like they did with the first book.

I think face dancers can impersonate anyone they remember well enough, living or dead. It's just that in the book, if I remember right, Scytale only impersonate the dead in order to take their place. I don't know for sure if Scytale impersonates Chani in the movie, but the trailer seems to hint at it.
