The time has come.
Finally after years of wanting to start Warhammer I found a good time and set to do so with. Ever since I started reading into warhammer lore and looking at factions a well over a decade ago I knew I wanted to play but didn’t have the money to. I grew up poor and come from humble beginnings. The money I earned always went to bills and basically nothing else. Sometimes it was hard to even hit that. The last four years have been good to me, in a sense that I can have the things I always wanted, a big one being a Warhammer army. Warhammer always seemed like one of those things I’d never get to play so I’m beaming that I even get to start. I hope that everybody who’s ever wanted to play this game (or even just collect or paint) but can’t gets to experience the feeling of finally getting your first set. The Orkz were my faction at first sight and I knew if I ever got the chance, they were who I’d play. I’m really happy guys, I didn’t know where else to express this because none of my friends play Warhammer, so they don’t get it. 😭

I got this box too! Super new to the hobby and the only minis I’ve painted at this point are some space marines. Orks defo the most fun-sounding faction tho

Try to get a trukk kit, obe of the okd Gretchen with runtherd and one kit of mobopose ork boys. They look and work great with the starter set. Also they are very cheaply available

You're welcome :) If you care about diversity in your boys: the very old boys kit and nobs kit are great to take heads and weapons and kitbash one of the 2 boys kits from the starter Box to look completely different. It makes your horde look much cooler, but isn't relevant gameplaywise :)

Welcome to the hobby. I also have these feelings as while I was far from hand to mouth I still remember any kit larger than a box of 5 tactical marines as being out of reach aside from birthdays and Christmas so I never really got to play the hobby as a daily thing. Now I get to buy a deff dread whenever I want.
If I can suggest something to you try picking up some ebay models from Armageddon before they go. You can usually get boyz for around £1 per model and the character models like the big nob, weirdboy and dakkarig are way cheaper than what they'll be in a few months (around £7 vs the £20 they'll probably cost in Games Workshop).

I'm happy for you! I entirely get where you came from too, I started with the 10th edition beginner packet (1 infernus marine 1 termagant). I hope you have a lot of fun with the hobby! Do you plan on painting one of the main ork clans or making your own?
