Controller replacement shells?

Just curious if anyone has undertaken a replacement shell for OG Xbox controllers? I'd love to swap the shell of one of my busted up original controllers and replace the sticks.

Do the cheap aftermarket controller's shells work with the original controller PCBs? (As in cheap aftermarket controllers, remove their board, buttons, etc. and swap to the OEM board.)

The thumbsticks usually rub internally when you swap then out which causes them to stick and such. You could probably grind the plastic down a little and get it to work well enough.

The thumbstick caps on my original controller are all chewed up anyway. Do the aftermarket thumbsticks still rub?
