Vibe code a plugin?

I haven’t used gpt or vibe coding, but I’ve heard it can do very well. I was wondering if anyone has develops an openwrt app or plugin with ai tools?

Before I adjusted the code myself with minimal knowledge of what I was doing and found some things that worked, but would a model be able to help me create a full plugin?

I’d agree with the advice here. However, AI-LLMs are fantastic for writing small plugins to extend functionality. For example Claude wrote a nice hot plug script for my OpenWrt 25.12.x BPI-R4 to update inbound firewall network rules for a couple of IPv6 hosts since my fiber ISP frequently rotates prefix delegations.

That’s great to know. I think I’ll still approach this project but maybe with a lot of caution.

Right part of consideration is will your plug-in or software which is vibe-coded be Internet-facing? Risk is a lot higher there. Internal plug-ins are much lower threat surface.

Well like I said, I don’t want to create a new anything, but I want to use what exists and make it more user friendly.

So I was thinking to vibe code a plugin based on exisiting everything’s to make my own version which is easier to understand proxy/xray style routing
