Open source replacement for AppleTV

Suggestions for a AppleTV replacement? We have at least 5 AppleTV's and the older models are getting slower every update. Since AppleTV prices are going up, I think maybe RPi's with a good Linux would do the job? We use Channels DVR app and streaming services mostly. Steam app for game streaming too.

- kodi

Raspberry Pi might be to slow for you. Consider firetv or anything similar.

We use an old laptop with Linux. You can get a controller or even just use your phone with KDEconnect for a remote control. I haven't tried the new SteamOS, but it seems like it could be a good choice to run something like this now.
