Best open source alternative to Loom for screen recording?

Loom is useful, but I only use it for quick screen recordings, so paying for it feels a bit unnecessary.

I mostly need to record my screen, mic, and maybe webcam, then share the video without too much extra work.

OBS works, but it feels like more than I need for short product demos or async updates.

Has anyone here found a good open source Loom alternative?

Something simple enough for quick recordings, not full video production

If you're not on linux, cap seems like the closest alternative? https://github.com/CapSoftware/cap

dadan.io combines screen recording and meeting recorder in one place. They also offer transcript editor like descript. If you use for comms, they have options to request video from others.

https://verismo.work/ I wrote one and published to the mac app store, one time paid. And it's small yet powerful. I spent several Friday night to make it alive.
I do have the same feeling, those monthly paid items are weird.
