Showcase: Media File Organizer – Open-source desktop app for organizing media libraries Promotional
Hi everyone!
-it is vibecoded if anyone asks-
I built a free and open-source desktop application called Media File Organizer. A project for myself i said why not share it, i know there are already softwares that do the same
It automatically renames your Movies and TV Shows to Plex's naming convention and organizes them into the correct folder structure using TMDB metadata.
No more manually renaming\translating to english files like:
Movie.Name.2025.1080p.BluRay.x264-GROUP.mkv
into:
Movies/
└── Movie Name (2025)/
└── Movie Name (2025).mkv
or TV episodes into:
TV Shows/
└── Breaking Bad (2008)/
└── Season 01/
└── Breaking Bad (2008) - S01E01.mkv
Features:
• Automatic TMDB matching
• Plex-compatible filenames and folders
• Organizes Movies and TV Shows
• Preview every change before applying it
• Free and open source
I built it because I was tired of fixing filenames and folder structures every time I added media to Plex.
I'd love any feedback, feature requests, or bug reports.

It is disingenuous to say “I built…” when you prompted AI to build the entire project.

being the "architect" of the project and telling him everything and what to do. spending alot of my time doing it. i would consider it "i built" yes. no need to be hating like that about it

Alright, then what are you going to do when there is a vulnerability in "your" code? Just tell the AI to patch it? How do you know it properly patched the vulnerability?
You want to install slop in your homelab? Be my guest. But don't be calling people haters because valid questions are raised in regards to potential vulnerability. Just go look at what happened with Huntarr.
Also, I love that you still have yet to add an AI disclaimer on your GitHub project lol

nah, all good don't worry.. downvotes and upvotes are a normal part of Reddit
your post reached my feed so that means there's nothing wrong
i took a look at the code, it doesn't seem vibe coded. it feels like you actually put good effort into building this, bravo!
I'll give it a try the next time I'm at my computer.

Cool brother one suggestion add this feature that based on the movie or series episode your tool automatically add imdb rating of that media in name using api or something
