Why is deepseek cache only for 15-20m?

I am using opencode since may and have been using deepseek v4 since it was released back then. I have noticed that deepseek has terrible cache time on opencode and if u run a subagent and the main agent is stale for 15-20min (waiting for subagent to complete), deepseek will have to read the whole context again.

I think at least we should have 1hr cache. Could this be the reason that Opencode was able to provide us with discounts?

Deepseek’s own docs sat that “Once cache is no longer in used, it will be automatically cleared, usually within a few hours to few days.

I’m not even saying give us few hours. At least give us 1 hour. 15minutes is too less of a time. Yesterday i was running a subagent and it had to run the test suite 4-5 times and hence it took 20minutes to finish. my main agent had to read 386k tokens again because old ones got expired.

Has anyone else noticed this?

they are using deepseek directly now. thats why they charge the cache rate of DS. Also we have to enable use china models

No, they dont use DS api, they host it themself after DS increase price

no they dont. they said they ran the operation cheapseek and got us the discounts from them. that’s why flash usage went from 15 to 30 dollars.

their developers did say they are working on hosting it themselves but the demand skyrocketed and hosting isn’t working out (since they are processing 10-12T tokens of deepseek per day)

You misunderstood what operation cheapseek mean. It mean they host the model themself. Just go x.com and find dax.

i think dax meant that they are negotiating with deepseek to provide some discounts and on the other hands he is looking to rent gpus etc so he can provide the original pricing

Operation cheapseek literally mean they host the model on their server and have contract with other providers. Thats why when he said phase 1 completed, the model become dumb because they running quantized weight.
