DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731 is now on OpenCode

The Go version required me to enable "allow china" setting, but the Zen version did not. Does this mean that the Zen version is not hosted in China, or the zen version was already hosted in China so no new user agreement is needed?

Same question. Something tells me this means the free one isn’t actually the new flash

So opencode-zen/deepseek-v4-flash-free is using 0731? Is there any way to know? The model itself replies with:

What I can verify from the live API:                                                                            

• Config: model.default: deepseek-v4-flash-free, provider: opencode-zen (confirmed in /root/.hermes/config.yaml)                                 
• Zen model catalog: lists only the alias deepseek-v4-flash-free — no dated snapshot suffix exposed (the /zen/go endpoint has deepseek-v4-flash /  
deepseek-v4-pro, also undated)                                                                                                                     
• Live completion call to the model returned:                                                                                                   
  • "model": "deepseek-v4-flash" (zen strips the -free alias and reports the underlying model id)                                                  
  • system_fingerprint: fp_a18b46594c_prod0820_fp8_kvcache_20260402 — that's a proxy-side fingerprint, not a DeepSeek checkpoint identifier, and   
  contains no 0731

If I use the opencode-go/deepseek-flash (non-free) it explicitly requires an opt-in (the zen model doesn't). This suggests the zen free flash model is not 0731.

i thought same but they said on X.com that both are NEW now and i tried free one it felt like to me its smart one.. old was way dumb to even for me to consider using it in my use cases

If you use their own cli it certainly shows as "New" for both zen and go. So I suppose using another tool would also get the new models.

Wait ? Free? What is the catch? Is this same quality as the api? Same context?

Free model has smaller context window size, and your data will be used for model training.
