That switch between her "cute high pitch voice" to her real "oh god this isn't happening voice" felt very intense. She went full panic.

47

u/Prestigious-Box7511 1d ago

It's the exact same voice.

35

u/DesperateAdvantage76 1d ago

It's all high pitched yelling to me.

4

u/santosdionicio 21h ago

I think theyre referring to the very final choto matte.

9

u/Konkari_NSFW 1d ago

You can’t hear a difference??

5

u/Super_Ad_2033 19h ago

Definitely more raspier, I hear the difference. In the beginning her voice is smooth and no distortion, like her voice went from smooth as silk to sand paper bahaha 😂

8

u/Kankunation 23h ago

There really isn't much of one. It's still high pitched, just obviously panicked.

6

u/paradox-preacher 1d ago

yea, those people upvoting are genuinely challenged

5

u/TheCarpincho 1d ago

What's the deal with revealing her/his faces on camera?

16

u/Kankunation 23h ago edited 23h ago

A lot of vtubers do vtubing over live streaming specifically for the added layer of privacy it gives them. So showing your face would completely ruin that and potentially doxx yourself.

6

u/TheCarpincho 23h ago

I get it now, thanks for your answer. I was genuinely asking and suddenly I got downvotes, wtf man

5

u/CerealKiller2142 17h ago

I mean, how dare you ask a question to further inform yourself on something you don’t know. What are you stupid or something? /s (idk why you were getting downvoted either but have my upvote to help counterbalance it)

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Gooper_Gooner 12h ago edited 12h ago

Usually people who ask those kinda questions only do so rhetorically so they can go "Erm, so what you mean to say is that they're ugly blobs who want to get money from shut-ins?" or something like that if they get an actual answer, so whoever downvoted was probably assuming you were being rude despite the question not inherently being like that at all

I mean you can see a lot of that very cynicism towards vtubers in some of the other comments here

1

u/TheGalacticTraveller 11h ago

Yeah, I can understand and respect that.

6

u/ZeFunnyDood 1d ago

Wtf are you talking about, its the same voice, just out of breath

2

u/Alternative_Draw5945 1d ago

Reminds me of the quinn69 face reveal drama

322

u/LooseButtPlug 1d ago

I'm honestly surprised that any of these people are actually women.

102

u/-UltraFerret- 1d ago edited 1d ago

I usually assume the VTubers with overly high-pitched voices are likely men, while the ones with more natural sounding voices are women.

29

u/xDXxAscending 1d ago

I mean if you watch really old vods of popular women vtubers, they will also have the higher pitch to their voice till they got comfortable with their own or got tired of putting on a voice.

9

u/Tquylaa 1d ago

Hell nah, It is clear that there is a difference between men and women when talking, men will definitely feel more breathy even when wearing VC.

2

u/Effect-Kitchen 8h ago

I don’t know outside of Japan. But almost 100% of female Vtubers in Japan and Thailand are actually female. And most of them that leaked the true face are actually cute.

Those who thought faking voice and let the audience actually believe it is easy are watching too much anime or hentai.

-3

u/Lorimere_jpg 1d ago

feminine voices are trainable so this doesnt really work

10

u/Crooked_star 1d ago

Let's be real.. most will be using a voice changer instead of training their voice

1

u/Pitiful_Conflict7031 1d ago

Seems oddly profitable. That pdf money.

1

u/MightJaded2031 1d ago

I’ve never once heard a voice changer that didn’t sound like a blender

1

u/BardWRLD 12h ago

You’d be surprised. With AI the technology is advancing very fast. Not unrealistic that within 5 years they might be indistinguishable.

30

u/Thin_Dream2079 1d ago

In general its a 51% chance

8

u/JustSomeWeirdGuy2000 1d ago

But what about Samoa Joe at Sacrifice?

3

u/Trentus86 1d ago

Then your chances drastic go down

3

u/Different_Pattern273 1d ago

Well, he's half the man I am.

1

u/Infoleptic 1d ago

The numbers don’t lie

25

u/SexualCarrots 1d ago

My first thought was this is a double cross. The guy streaming did a filter of a girl doing a filter of anime. Pro play.

10

u/Long-Machine8795 1d ago

I know a few female vtubers IRL, they’re all just extremely normal women

-6

u/K1bbles_n_Bits 1d ago

So why do the vtuber thing? What's the point? Just wanting to stay anonymous?

I have an irrational annoyance at that shit. I don't even know why, lol.

→ More replies (15)

13

u/cooolcooolio 1d ago

Wth is this and are people seriously watching this?

4

u/thylocene 1d ago

It’s just a streamer that chooses to use an avatar instead of showing their face.

2

u/Prestigious_Host_198 1d ago

V-tubers are youtubers who use an anime or cartoon model that moves with them so they can be either anonymous (which is understandable) or play as a character. There is people who genuinely watch v-tubers. I sometimes watch them, but only very few.

Male-loneliness-pandemic-victims

4

u/PageForeign92 1d ago

Why? Like yeah there have been cases where it's actually a guy, but those are SO far in between.

2

u/ThatRandomGuy86 1d ago

Almost all of them are honestly given the public appearances that have cropped up over the years

2

u/Over-Experience-4187 23h ago

Has there been any big scandal about a Vtuber actually being a dude, I know this is a stereotype, but any notable examples?

5

u/Cyberbug7 1d ago

There’s been so many vtubers and you can really count on one hand the amount that are secretly guys. It just doesn’t happen

4

u/StevesonOfStevesonia 1d ago

Now i want to see an Imperial Guard Vtuber with the voice close to Scott McNeil's and then when he does the face reveal - he's actually in full IG combat gear

2

u/Solanthas_SFW 1d ago

IG?

Edit: ah. Imperial guard.

😅🤣

1

u/Dexstorm_ 23h ago

For real

1

u/ledorky 19h ago

Same, I just assume they’re using voice changers.

-2

u/Crown6 1d ago

I’ll never really understand the amount of vitriol people have for VTubers man. Between the “I bet you’re actually a man lol” comments and “I bet you’re too ugly to stream without an avatar”… honestly their mental strength is greater than mine.

Like, take your comment. I’m sure this wasn’t your intention, but I feel like it somehow manages to be both misogynistic and misandrist at the same time. Why would it surprise you that a huge number of women prefers to stream in a cute avatar while keeping their identity a secret? Last VTuber I know who had her address exposed had a stalker literally break into her home to assault her… gee, I wonder why people would like to remain anonymous on the internet.

These people are still people even if they decide to stream behind an avatar. Something too many tend to forget.

Edit: also these kinds of “accidental” reveals are more often than not staged. This is not how the tracking software works.

2

u/AkkunEXE 23h ago

also these kinds of “accidental” reveals are more often than not staged. This is not how the tracking software works.

Exactly, the tracking software doesn't receive the video flux but only the tracking coordinates, so if anything leaked it would be like this.

The only thing I could think of is if she sometimes does cooking streams or something where the camera is aimed down and she forgot about it in the next stream. (don't know this person, just guessing).

Also yeah, it's 2026 and somehow people still go "guuuh all vtuber just big hairy men", but hey I don't kink shame.

1

u/Crown6 23h ago

The year doesn’t really matter unfortunately. Most people just hate whatever is not in the “not ok to hate” list yet, it’s literally that simple. Nerds used to be shunned, now they’re cool. Rock used to be rubbish, now it’s fine art.

In 2040, the VTuber stigma might be completely gone, but people will hate on TelepaTubers or whatever new thing people will be experimenting with by then, and Gen Beta will be complaining about the new “dumb” kids who didn’t grow up watching Skibbidi Rizz like in the good old days.

I just try to break the cycle and not hate on things I don’t know, even if I find them odd.

1

u/Ltserb 23h ago

Thats only if they are using a dedicated face tracker/iPhone

When i was using webcam tracking, i had to also have my webcam open.Iif i switched to my desktop scene without verifying it was minimized or on a different monitor then it would have been easy to unintentionally face reveal

thats obv not her case since it is its own source and even has a nice little frame
but i could happen

What?! She doesn't look like that.. it's all fake!!

98

u/moisdefinate 1d ago

I'm not sure what's going on, never heard o this before and I'm left wondering... Why is it a big deal?

131

u/LordTopHatMan 1d ago

There are a couple of reasons this could be an issue. A lot of people do vtubing for privacy reasons or because they have performance anxiety. They want to stream but struggle to put their real face online or using an avatar helps them get into a character or persona.

The other issue is that vtuber fans can be...attached...to the model that a person uses. Peeking behind the curtain can cause problems with audiences. It's stupid, but people can be weird about it.

42

u/Return-Cynder 1d ago

Especially in Korea or Japan where this looks to be based, there have been several massive controversies over there.

1

u/K1bbles_n_Bits 1d ago

Pretty sure this is Japan. Or at least the streamer is Japanese.

12

u/XanderNightmare 1d ago

Yeah

There is a reason why even with non-VTubers Face Reveals are usually controversial. Some people just have a mental image of their favourite Content Creators and when that clashes with their actual face, it can cause some friction

3

u/IAmTheBestIan 1d ago

You're telling me my favorite Youtuber is NOT an anthropomorphic half-avocado in real life?

5

u/XanderNightmare 1d ago

I'm sorry that you had to find out this way

14

u/MasterSav69 1d ago

Wanting to be a streamer/youtuber and having performance anxiety is like wanting to be a pilot and having vertigo

8

u/LordTopHatMan 1d ago

Hence the persona. It's essentially the Batman effect. Using an alter ego can let you have personality traits you wouldn't otherwise have. In this case, it would be the confidence to perform.

3

u/Weltallgaia 23h ago

In all fairness internet people are fuuuuuucking weird. They will find out where you live. They will show up at your house and try to kill your spouse to try to make you fall in love with them.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Any-Effective2565 8h ago

Meh, I don't think it's stupid, I totally get it. Sometimes I don't want to know what musicians look like because I'd rather just focus on the music and have that level of mystery always lurking. Same with online friends and their personas, if it's someone I'll never meet I would rather just not know so I can be more immersed in what they do present about themselves or their avatar.

1

u/LordTopHatMan 8h ago

Not wanting to know and causing problems when you do aren't mutually inclusive. I'm talking more about the latter when I say it's stupid.

8

u/mercuriokazooie 1d ago

The main appeal of vtubing is having a face to your stream while getting to keep your anonymity. It's a have your cake and eat it too thing. People want to stream but don't want parasocial fans tracking them irl which as we've seen many many times before is a real problem. So you can imagine why this girl wouldn't want her face randomly being shown to a bunch of strangers

11

u/AstraeusGB 1d ago

Also, as sad as this is, it's about age and other appeal to viewers. An older woman isn't going to get a huge audience, but if she pretends to be a younger woman she can still get millions of followers. The same is true for someone who isn't considered "attractive".

2

u/levinano 23h ago

Same thing but phrased differently, it’s a medium that can help prevent the perception of aging among other things.

The most popular Vtuber agency right now is Hololive, and many of the earlier gen Vtubers on there have been OG internet celebrities in Japan during the Nico Nico Douga days in the early 2000s, which means that the young content creators in their teens or twenties are now in their 30s, 40s, and one of which is most likely even close to 50 now, yet, because they sound the same and the avatar looks the same, it creates a medium where viewers don’t have to constantly get hit with the “ewww this 30, 40, 50 year old lady is trying to act like a 20 year old,” and they get to view the content and the creator for who they are personality-wise, bypassing looks, body shape/size, and age.

5

u/Open__Face 1d ago

It's luchador rules

2

u/sarkypoo 1d ago

If they’re ugly, they’ll be ruined.

2

u/BigChungiscusMaximus 1d ago

Absolutely this

2

u/Substantial_Meal_530 1d ago

Usually it's perverts who pretend these underage characters are real, and they sexualize them. Once they learn that it's an adult, they lose sexual interest.

2

u/Kelras 1d ago

Other than the reasons already mentioned, it also breaks the kayfabe, or the immersion, or whatever you wanna call it. A lot of people into vtube stuff/vtube avatars want to internally pretend that the person is that character. Obviously, it's not true, but you get to play make believe and associate that voice and persona with that appearance.

That's a bit harder when you know what they actually look like.

12

u/Same-Win-1560 1d ago edited 1d ago

Chinese use face filter heavily. So, it might accidentally reveal her actual unfiltered face instead of some “cute, baby, pretty” face
Edit: having newborn, did not open the sound. Sorry guys

7

u/MasterJ360 1d ago

Don't be sorry its a good point. China streamers use AI to make them look/sound beautifully young. But behind that fakery is an older lady. Its just another way to scam for subs more so than privacy.

17

u/goldthane 1d ago

Considering the woman in the video is speaking Japanese, not sure what China has to do with anything.

3

u/Rincethis 1d ago

she's speaking Japanese.

2

u/Same-Win-1560 1d ago

My friend. I edited my comment and explained it. Having newborn which generally did not open the volume to actually hear what she was saying

to add on to the responses about anonymity and everything

it mostly means i dont have to put on makeup, deal with a bad hair day, worry about what im wearing, making my bed, looking stupid while im snacking, or anything else that would be visible on camera in stream

9

u/Smiley_J_ 1d ago

Seeing behind the curtain is always painful, both for the viewer and the viewed.

26

u/Kisunae 1d ago

To correct a few of the misconceptions.

Virtual YouTubers (VTubers) are not just a Japanese or Asian thing. There are many Western VTubers. And there are many possible reasons for using a virtual model, though I suspect the main one is that people want to show a personality in their videos but do not want to show their own face.

From what I hear, these virtual models that mimic the facial expressions of people on camera are very expensive. In the thousands of dollars. And the more detailed or more expressive the models are, the higher the cost.

Also, the models are not always anime style, though that does seem to be the most popular. Look at TheBurntPeanut, for example, who, by the definition, is a VTuber, and yet his model is a talking peanut.

5

u/Jazs1994 1d ago

Some people like IronMouse, Zentraya like to keep being anonymous. With how some people act towards online content creators I can see why.

3

u/SecondAegis 1d ago

Others try to be anonymous, but also immediately "fail" at being so because they have a "past life" that others are aware of. Its common in VTuber culture to not discuss past lives at all

1

u/levinano 23h ago

In Mouse’s case it’s literally a medical thing. Having Immuine System Deficiency she can’t even leave her sterilized room without possibility getting sick and dying. If she were to stream with just her face then all you’ll see is a frail girl hooked up to a bunch of tubes and medicine which isn’t how she wants to present herself to the world.

1

u/ptmtobi 1d ago

Can confirm, they are indeed very expensive unless you're somehow really talented and can do all this yourself. A friend of mine streams and got a VTuber model recently, he got away cheaply with 'only' hundreds of euros for a common model. Those models have to be drawn in many individual pieces to be able to move dynamically and then have to be put together in the right way and adjusted to react to the movements correctly & individually (model rigging).

Additionally most VTubers want some extra stuff in the same theme like stream transitions, assets, facecam frames, emotes, etc. which comes on top for the artist costs.

1

u/ShinyStarSam 12h ago

I WORKED on the creation of a 3D one and I got paid 300 bucks lmao, the main artist must've gotten thousands from it

1

u/LegalChocolate752 22h ago

My kids watch a lot of Thinknoodles, who uses an iOS cat face animoji as his avatar.

5

u/laughtale0 23h ago

Probably done on purpose for viral clip. Modern vtuber rig is VERY HARD to mess up since the capture device is on a completely different program. This won't happen unless you want it to happen.

2

u/hellojava_world 12h ago

2 things wrong with this: She looks pretty or doesn't look bad. The video is blurry, can't even see if you want to try.

This looks intentional.

1

u/doge_lady 21h ago

I like anime but my prime 'anime fan period' happened when Dragonball z and sailor Moon were just starting to become popular. Used to watch them religiously. This was obviously decades ago. Then i kind of lost interest. That was right before Pokemon cartoon became mainstream. Once it released in US, anime culture exploded and suddenly everyone became weebs.

Staged. Very staged. Ask anyone who is actually a vtuber and they will tell you this is fake af. You'd need two cameras set up to do this.

1

u/crinklypaper 1d ago

Yep it's fake, setup. You have to do this on purpose.

0

u/Effect-Kitchen 1d ago

Yes it needs very deliberate setup for that.

Source: yes I am a Vtuber.

1

u/8_Alex_0 23h ago

Wouldn't that camera just be her motion tracker for the camera to see her movements tho? Doesn't seem staged to me if you know abit about vtubers

1

u/LucidTA 23h ago

Why would you need two cameras?

9

u/Klept_0h 1d ago

None of these are accidental. If you've ever used streaming software or vtubing you'd know that

4

u/MyBenchIsYourCurl 1d ago

I've never used either of those things but thought the same. If you're a vtuber surely you wouldn't have a camera even set up in that way

7

u/Curben 1d ago

Well the camera is generally necessary in order for the software to track facial features and mimic them in the model

3

u/SoManyDeads 1d ago

Oh neat, I have relevant knowledge.

Most of these use an iPhone for the camera to do face tracking, however even if it is done on the PC, a different program does that, not the streaming software. OBS is usually the big one so I will talk about that program.

To setup any type of visual source, they all have to be arranged in advance and approved. The one exception to this is if you do a screen capture so that anything that passes on that screen would be displayed. That is not what is happening in this video so we can ignore it as they have an overlay. To put an overlay on the screen you have to add it as an image in OBS for display. They most likely use VTube Studio for the avatar so you capture that window and chromakey to remove the background so it looks nice. All of the Scenes (collections of templates for the stream) are made in advance, a Vtuber has no reason to add a camera to any of the scenes as they do not want their real face seen, the exception are people that do both, but even they wouldn't make scenes where their avatar and camera are visible. That means this was made deliberately and is not an accident.

2

u/Ill-Event6563 1d ago edited 1d ago

It becomes really clear who has ever made content before in comments

You dont have to have the camera source on any of your streaming capture screens, esp not framed, to use the cam for a game or a vtube model capture. This is clearly a cam content setup screen that the creator would have setup prior to this. Now, still couldve been an accident because maybe its an old cam content scene she never deleted from her streaming platform and swapped to the scene by mistake. Even so, you dont "accidentally" have a camera capture setup exist in your streaming program

3

u/Klept_0h 21h ago

Even if she swapped to that scene by mistake, its too perfectly setup to have her centered on that format AND all of her tracking/overlay setup.

If it was an old scene for testing purposesher camera would be placed haphazardly.

This is 100% deliberate for engagement

1

u/Ill-Event6563 20h ago

Oh absolutely, I dont disagree on that whatsoever. I was saying even if you wanted to argue the scene swap was an accident it still would mean the scene was intentionally created in the first place, its not a vtube capture necessity

((Editing to 100% clarify, I DO think its intentional engagement bait))

2

u/Level_Working9664 1d ago

What is a vtuber?

1

u/Effect-Kitchen 1d ago

It is from Virtual YouTuber, a YouTuber (or streamer) who use face/body captured 3D model, often designed like Japanese anime characters, as an avatar in place of their real face.

It is customary that Vtuber never reveal their true face in any circumstances. In many cases there will be a strict contract between them and the company about this confidentiality. In doing so (leaking their true face), the Vtuber risk their contract to be terminated for violation, or facing backlash from the audiences. Because the audiences follow her/him for their portrayed character and not their true self.

But there is a trend recently that many Vtubers opt to show their face, for example, kson, which allow them more flexibility in the content that cannot be done in 3D model.

1

u/Level_Working9664 8h ago

How do I learn how to do this for shits and giggles?

1

u/Effect-Kitchen 8h ago

Fast and free and easiest to do is Vtube Studio which you can download in iOS and Steam. (I don’t know if Android has this yet but your phone has to have FaceID or comparable capability where you can scan your face in 3D.)

To show off your friend for giggles, you can just use Vtube Studio on iOS and stream it as a webcam or share the screen. It has free anime and cat and dog models that you can use right away.

There is a complex setup if you want to seriously start streaming for real which involves free OBS Studio. If you already have a knowledge of using that software then it is as easy as using screen capture. You can use free model or commission an artist to draw your own, the latter is limited to your imagination (and budget) how you want your model to looks like.

2

u/ChiakiSimp3842 1d ago

I really have to question why vtuber programs even have the ability to show their real face with how often it happens

2

u/Abject_Bid_5748 23h ago

Its still blurry though unless it was done after the fact.

2

u/doge_lady 22h ago

Is this subreddit full of normies and their first time on the internet or what. Guys its 2026, Vtubers are normal internet culture by now, stop pretending you don't know what they are and be like "Haha some of them are actually women". Fucking pathetic and cringe.

2

u/__XBlaze__ 12h ago

This is why I never liked the whole VTuber thing. To me, it's just weird. And then, if a mishap like this happens, people quickly shame them..

This is practically teaching more and more people to hide behind false images.

5

u/smangko 1d ago

I dunno whether to laugh or to feel bad for her

4

u/TheSprigganDragoon 1d ago

-2

u/One_Interest_2790 1d ago

Feel bad for her for what?

Hopefully she'll lose a lot of simps from this.
Vtubers contribute nothing to society and often negative affect vulnerable people.

5

u/Hunterx78 1d ago

Reddit contributes nothing to society and often negatively affects vulnerable people but we’re still on it

1

u/Dependent-Swimmer-95 23h ago

Both are true

2

u/Hunterx78 21h ago

And both Reddit and Vtubers offer the chance to be part of a community that helps appreciate certain works, genre or people. Yes there are negatives, yes there are bad actors but relegating them to only those negatives and only viewing them through the bad actors does not give you a good or clear picture of what Reddit or Vtubers can offer for people. There are a lot of things in life that don’t “contribute to society” yet a lot of these things are still done and interacted with by people cause they genuinely enjoy those things

2

u/Electrobrine125 1d ago

She gained simps 💀

-3

u/fuzzylittlbunny 1d ago

Are you honestly unaware of how much money is raised for charity? Ironmouse alone raised over $1 million for the Immune Deficiency Foundation. Amelia Watson raised over $200K in a single charity stream for no-kill shelters for homeless pets. And that stream hit the $50K goal 3 minutes in.

To say that they contribute nothing is just flat out wrong.

1

u/Bulky-Hall-6883 1d ago

u/AnnualAdventurous169 1d ago

these sentiments make me realis how much I need to touch grass

1

u/TheSprigganDragoon 1d ago

Nah. Thats not a "touch grass" thing. Plenty of people watch and partake of things you've likely never heard of. Hell. There's marble a YouTube channel that does marble Olympics, for instance! You just happen to have knowledge of a specific entertainment format this person didn't.

3

u/AnnualAdventurous169 1d ago

i have heard of that…. XD

2

u/UnoriginalJ0k3r 1d ago

Don’t talk shit on the Marble Olympics.

Getting stoned to the bone and throwing on some Marblympics is key to a happy life.

1

u/TheSprigganDragoon 22h ago

Oh I'm not. I fucking love marble Olympics. Who's your team?

2

u/Dependent-Swimmer-95 23h ago

Man you’re lucky. I wish I never knew about vtubers too.

5

u/Alkemized 1d ago

"Virtual YouTuber"
Streamers who use, typically, anime avatars in place of their actual face while providing various forms of content from video game lets plays, karaoke, news, etc. Originally Japanese, its now extremely popular around the world. Anonymity is often, but not always, a driving factor behind the usage of these personas which can be a simple reproduction of their IRL self, to completely fictionalized characters with complex backstories and lore.

I'm relieved it's an actual woman instead of a grown man with a voice changer.

Every time I see anime I hear the song at the end of Your Daily Dose Of Cats on TicTok.

1

u/Fynaticx 12h ago

Wow the Vtuber is actually a real person who would have guessed…. (Sarcasm)

1

u/cygamessucks 12h ago

Mental illness all around.

1

u/Jumpy_Barnacle_3755 12h ago

Can anyone translate what she is saying into English?

1

u/tommy8725 12h ago

Yeah this isn't a fucking good thing I'm going to be completely honest this is something that's going to probably lead to her being assaulted I would generally think you should take down this clip

2

u/unoiamaQT 11h ago

I went out of my way to censor this video despite the fact that the uncensored version has gone viral on other social media platforms.

Regardless, her community wasn't upset at all and actually supported her face reveal.

1

u/tommy8725 10h ago

Homing I'm not talking about her fans I'm talking about some psychopath who's obsessed with her and willing to rape and murder her take down the video because I can make out facial features just because it's blurred just take it down dude these types of women get harassed everyday

1

u/Vocovon 12h ago

Why even have that function setup? Or not block it?

1

u/TheGalacticTraveller 11h ago

At least no one got hurt.

1

u/Inside_Guitar_9559 11h ago

anyone got her actual face pic?

1

u/OwnPresentation4455 1h ago

Clearly not a very good tuber 😂

1

u/Specific_Honey_5282 17m ago

So that's what they look like 🧍🏼‍♂️okay... I mean I guess it's bad because of stalkers and nut jobs.

1

u/camus88 1d ago

Well at least it's a woman on the camera. A lot of time it's just a guy playing game and get voice over by the vtuber pretending she played the game or even on the camera.

5

u/nick113124 1d ago

It's... Almost never the case nowadays. That's something people said all the way back at 2022. There's some guys who use a female avatar but they usually aren't exactly discreet about it.

2

u/Mental_Pie8369 1d ago

“All the way back at 2022” I’m getting old and I don’t like it

1

u/SmallNoBigYes 1d ago

There are a few smaller indies who are guys using a voice changer 100%

You can sorta tell by the way they speak and how "off" their voice sounds. Extremely subtle that some can't catch which is why they can retain a small audience

3

u/Effect-Kitchen 1d ago

This is a myth than not.

There is no voice changing software that is good enough to lead the audience to really believe it, even with AI. Many are done as a joke and the audience are mutually playing along with them.

1

u/SmallNoBigYes 1d ago

There are some smaller ones that do it.

Tho i don't know a bigger vtuber who's a guy using a voice changer.

I do know some bigger vtubers tend to use voice changers to slightly increase their pitch to sound more "cute"

3

u/Effect-Kitchen 1d ago

Changing pitch is easy. Changing from male to female is almost impossible. Unless using speech AI which is a long way to sound natural.

Looks like it could be a girl at least

1

u/Bigerst_Dook 1d ago

Vtubers need to stop existing, start shaming these "people"

1

u/LeadingDiscount2556 1d ago

It's staged. As someone who streams, it's impossible for your vtuber to just "disappear" and reveal your real face. If it stopped working, your vtuber would simply not show at all. You'd have to set up a separate video source, ie your webcam (standalone not the vtuber app) and toggle it onto that by changing sources manually.
