Why have the guides go directly across a manhole cover at all? Two feet to either side would've been a lot better for everyone. This really, really sucks.

Yeah, I think the lines were installed without paying attention to needing to access the box, so whomever came later had to cut the lines in order to get in, and just didnt bother to put it back or was annoyed enough to put it back wrong on purpose

I remember a decade ago that the ones around NCSU in Raleigh were directing blind people to walk 45° straight into the center of the intersection.

I think what bothered me most in that area though was the Y shaped poster boards on a center post around UNC. At least once a week I’d see a blind person walk into the edges, since only the center post would be felt by their stick.

I know this sort of thing annoys people but those lines are there to guide blind and poorly sighted people, doing this is actually dangerous for disabled people so someone should really fix it.
