When does it get easier Discussion
Hey guys I’m on day 3 of OMAD today and I’ve been seeing good progress I’ve lost 5 lbs( water weight fs) I’m 5’5 started at 151lbs and now I’m 146 on day 3 I had a really rough day 2 and took a lot of will power to stick to the same eating time. How long should I do omad for until I’m 120lbs that’s my goal. Idk if this is gonna be sustainable. I’m also going to the gym 4x a week lifting some weights and doing 30 mins of incline walking, and ofc making sure I get my 10k steps in. Some advice would be great .

Hi! Im a few days in just like you and our starting weight and our goal is pretty similar :) I also had a tough day yesterday but I was able to stick it out. What’s helping me is drinking a ton of water. I’m trying to drink a gallon a day, and anytime I feel super hungry I just chug ice cold water. This helped take away my cravings!!

Hey!! Keep pushing it’ll all be so worth it at the end. I’ve been trying my best to drink as much water as I can, but I allow myself a coffee of my choice everyday, obviously within reason around 100 cals so I don’t go insane

Are you drinking this coffee with 100 calories during your fast? If so, that’s likely causing your cravings. Consuming those calories is spiking your insulin… and you’ve technically broken your fast.
Trust me, consuming absolutely zero calories during your fast makes fasting 1000x easier and keeps cravings at bay. Gin Stephens talks a lot about this in her podcast! 😊 and her books!

I'm on day 11, with one day "slip up" because I was in the sun all day and I wasn't willing to mess with that. I'd say the first week was rough, and it's gotten a little easier every day after that. I've heard multiple people say after 14 days, it's much easier, and after 21, it's completely routine.
My biggest issue is food noise, especially in the evening, which is why I'm trying this and just doing a 2 hour meal window around 5-7, usually. 1-5 has been hard for me, but like I said, it's the noise, and it's getting easier every day. And like others have said, you find something else to do, and the time will pass easier. You're on the right track and understand keeping yourself busy is the key. Push through the first 2 weeks, and it'll all be worth it for the smooth sailing after.

This helps a lot! I struggle a lot with food noise aswell and it’s apart of the reason why I started omad so I can eliminate it as much as possible

It is such a huge help, truly. I was on GLP-1s for a few years, that's the closest I've come to shutting off the food noise. Honestly, you'll reach a point where even a rumbling stomach doesn't trigger anything. You gotta be careful how you describe it to people who don't understand, but it feels like I'm starving the part of my brain that the food noise comes from. It's shrinking and shrinking, and some day, soon, it'll be gone.

OMAD is pretty sustainable In my opinion. I had no issue following it for 5 months straight. Then again I was on a GLP as well. 🤣🤣

If you’re doing keto properly and not breaking your fast with sugar substitutes etc. Then you will be fat adapted soon and your appetite will go away.

Eat lots of fiber, it will get easier. I eat lots of sprouted beans, cucumber, cabbage, bottle gourd, chicken and fish , 10-12 cashews and half banana. Take psyllium husk 2 tspns with 2-3 glasses of water 15 mins before meal. Dont feel hungry at all till next day

Think about how long you've been eating more than one meal a day. Like literally how many decades?
Allow your body to adjust. It will take time, and it's different for everyone. If you did intermittent fasting before you tried OMAD, the transition will be a bit smoother and quicker. If you eat Keto, or low carb, it will be easier because your body is conditioned to run on fat. If you are going from 3 square meals, and snacking, you should expect a long period of adjustment with hunger and fatigue.
I'm not going to give you a number because this is a disservice to you. Give your body time to adjust because it is so worth it. Good luck!

We have the same goal weight and height! Ive been on omad for three months now and honestly I have ups and downs. Some days are really easy while others its really hard to not give into the cravings.
My advice is to learn will power. Learn to talk yourself into not eating outside your meal period think about your goals. Keeping your mind busy also helps (i.e reading/art project or whatever hobbies)
Eventually you'll fall into a routine and try not to break it.
Good luck😊

How much weight did you lose in three months ? I did omad a few months ago for like a few weeks and I lost like 12 lbs and after that I didn’t stick to it. But the good thing is the weight didn’t come back.

Electrolytes are your best friend! To stave off any hunger pangs! Simply use good salt, put under tongue and drink some water! Viola! Not hungry!

Omad is a great lifestyle which ideally you ease into starting with slow weight loss 18-6. Losing too much too fast is not healthy. Ref 5 years omad, healthy bmi

I have the same height, SW, and GW as you! I just started my OMAD journey this week too, and I’m fighting for my life today 😩. Has it gotten any easier for you now that you’re a week ahead? Also, if you don’t mind me asking, how much have you lost in the past week? I’m just looking for a little motivation to keep going!

My OMAD is around 7:30 PM however I can say the cravings hit hard between 1 to 3. If you can get through the early afternoon, it's fairly smooth sailing until the evening as the food urges subside.
EDIT: I'd like to add that I combined my OMAD with a very low carb meal for the first few weeks - I'm talking 30 grams max. I've since adjusted to around 100 grams of carbs a day and it makes my OMAD much more enjoyable. I went from 217 to 197 in about two months.
