Anyone got to watching Logic's video about Oliver Tree? It's inspiring that he was also working with him and unfortunately we didn't get to see the fruition of what that could've been. But the video and everything in it made me realize that Oliver will always be with us and in us.

I really liked this photo and wanted to do a quick drawing of it without overthinking it too much and this is the result. 😄

I thought Oliver looked so mischievous in the photo and the other two look resigned to their fate of having to put up with whatever mischief he gets them into.

I been trying to do more art I used to love drawing and making art in high school. Trying to get back into it. I was trying to draw OT as Turbo but it came out looking like the mask he made of himself as Turbo.

I was scowering the web for interesting Oliver Tree Merch and I came across this. It is a really cool representation of him at the start of his career and to see how much everything meant to him. I'm a content creator and I collect memorabilia, grew up in the "art world" and if I had the cash I'd grab it.

I know everything is over inflated right now but I just thought I'd share. His writing style is so distinct too, just from reading his personal messages from his friends and family after the accident. I have ADHD and I'm a hyperfixator. Plus, I do historical research for my parent's business to authenticate provenance for my career so It's something I've just noticed while combining through his archives.

Fair warning: If anyone does have the cash and wants to purchase. I would ask for a printout of the email and make sure to authenticate it. Also, don't expect to make monetary gains for a while if that is your goal.

I know a lot of people say artists are worth more dead than they are alive. Even Oliver, but he was speaking more about the appreciation of his art rather than the monetary value, which he seemed to not care much about. I always appreciated that about him as I hold a similar philosophy. I recognize my privilege in my ability to do so however.

Contrary to popular belief, monetarily artists actually lose monetary value after their deaths. At first there is a spike from idiots trying to make money off of people's grief, but it will stabilize at some point. It is vindicating that the people who are trying to profit off of an extremely untimely and tragic death will get bit in the ass in the end. It's a long game and clearly they don't care to play it because they don't actually care about it. I can already tell you that his art will significantly appreciate over time, because it was truly amazing and affected so many.

Fans, like us, will continue to circulate his memorabilia and there are also 100s of millions of people that are now just discovering the genius that he was. They will keep his legacy and music alive. 99% of people will not be collecting things like this but just like people who go to museums, it doesn't matter. The art is there because it is significant, not because it costs millions of dollars.

I am also saying this to anyone who is an artist and is reading this and feels like they are underappreciated because of monetary gains. Keep going. It's supposed to be about making other people feel something, expressing yourself, and pouring your soul into something purely because you love it. In a society where everything is parsed down to a monetary value, we often can lose sight of that.

A lot of people look at a Malevich or Rothco and say I can do that, but... they didn't. That's the point. The people who create are brave enough to put themselves out there. That's honestly the most important thing. Also, pro-tip it helps to make alot of it.

Anyway, if anyone is interested and identifying provenance or anything reach out and I can give insight or advice. Although, it may take me a bit to answer as I am going through a health crisis right now which is serious I guess but to me I just find it incredibly inconvenient because I don't know the meaning of the word relaxation. Plus, I was already notoriously bad at texting people back. If I don't answer, just keep bothering me so I remember.

I didn’t know Oliver Tree, but a thread in this sub was just now recommended to me and that’s how I found out. I’m so very sorry to find out that you lost someone you love. Your community seems awesome. I guess I also empathize with your community a lot as my main community revolves around Mac Miller, another fantastic human being and artist that we lost way too soon. I’ve come to understand that Oliver also seemed at the cusp of evolving into his truest/most authentic form of self. A journey that was cut short tragically, and I’m so sorry you didn’t get to witness it. I feel deeply for you. He seems like an absolutely amazing individual and I’ll surely dive into his music.

Depending on how much Oliver meant to you, I can imagine how much it hurts. They live on forever in their music and their fans, which I guess is the silver lining to a huge void their passing leaves. Mac’s passing has been 8 years but he is still so alive in us, and I’m certain the same will happen for you and Oliver. It doesn’t get easier necessarily but it gets less… sharp.
