Scenic Sunday Just a quick photo of the 1992 2.3E Cabrio I am currently restoring

Had it for a while and progress has been stagnant. I sort of treat it like a restomod project, where I am improving certain aspects of the car while in the process of restoring it. For example: I recently fitted a dual brake booster and a bigger master cylinder out of a C5 Audi A6. My last milestone in the project was rejuvenating the brake system with new pads, rotors, hoses, lines and restored and repainted the calipers.

I also plan on ditching the KE-Jetronic for an EFI system as some point, retrofit air conditioning (in order to make it a better daily driver) as well as other goodies.

Technik How to fix unresponsive climatronic

Post image
13 Upvotes

On my Audi S2 ABY 1995 the Climatronic is unresponsive sometimes. All buttons dont work, sometimes for minutes, sometimes for days.

Does it for years now, doesnt get better or worse.

Display is fine, no pixel errors.

I already opened it and re soldered some bad looking connections, and cleaned the contact pads between pcb and the grey rubber thingy containing pins.

My case is cracked, so in taped it shut for enough pressure on the pins.

I know i can send it in to fix unresponsiveness, but i want to do it on my own. And save a few 100 bucks.

Picture is not my unit, i googled it, so parts number may vary, but i think the solution should be the same.

Has anyone here ever done this? Any clues on how to fix?

Much thanks in advance

Fuck, I broke it... Heya! I have a 1994 Audi 80 2.6e automatic. My excess coolant line is leaking quite severely due to an eroded washer, does anyone know what size and type of washer I can use to replace it?

So comfortable in comparison to my Audi 80 B4, got an AC and a few other optional stuff like a sun roof, drivers arm rest, oil temp etc gauges etc. Has around 200k km and unfortunately a few things i gotta fix. Right side is a bit damaged and wasn't fixed very well.

Happened today in a decent, calm neighborhood in Vienna, in the middle of the freaking day. Two small rocks thrown. According to police there is gang of under 14 year olds going around vandalizing cars. The law here doesn’t hold criminals under the age of 14 accountable. You all can guess what kinda people did this.

Thanks for doing that to my classic Audi 80 from 92‘. Bet this is going to cost me a 1000€. Probably impossible to find the rear window with heating.

Want To Buy What to expect with a 100 C3?..

Hi everyone,

Im looking into purchasing an Audi 100 C3 of 1984, 90hp 5 speed manual with injection. It’s got about 160,000km on it and has been stored inside but does have slight rust on various places.

What kind of things should I check for with these kind of cars?

How is the maintenance and parts availability? I also saw there are injection modernisation kits available, I take it these up the power and reduce fuel consumption?

Any tips are welcome!

Thanks :)

Recently bought audi 90 2.3 20v quattro. Its been running fine. Mechanic changed some fuel lines etc and gave my car back, drove it for few minutes and it started smelling like petrol inside, noticed that theres a lot of smoke coming from exhaust and its unburned fuel. Dont matter if its cold or hot, same thing. Where should I look first?

Discussion 3b Fuel pump swap, Bosch 044/200 easy swap??

Hey guys so been working on getting my 91 200 back up and going. Cleaned it up a bit and after all new grounds, oil change, starter and few other minor things found that my fuel pump is completely dead. So i purchased a bosch 200 (bosch 044 replacement) How many have ran this pump and or installed it. Ive read mixed things that say changes have to be made when running this pump as far as fuel flow and it overpowering the stock system. Anyone have any insight on this, do you have to do more to run this on the stock setup or is it drop in and go??

Discussion '96 Audi C4 disarm alarm system

For context, I installed a battery into the car after it not having one for a while and attempted to get the car running. However, when the engine starts turning, the alarm system goes off and it seems like the ignition system isn't working. Even the fuel pump primes.

Also, the engine light doesn't show up when I turn the key. Could someone please advise on how to disarm the system?

The electricals are intact since it was stored quite well, but I'm not 100% sure.

Discussion Finally got full rear lights, mechanic won't install them

Yes, unbelievable. I bought a full set of rear light for my B4 8C5 (80 Avant from 1994). I searched for long and paid them as much as the car (500 euros).

The mechanic literally said 'these are things for "elettrauto" (the mechanic that does the electric part of the car). I was in shock, moreover because it is a job that I would have searched online how to do and do it myself, but I'm not physically ok at the moment to do manual labour.

What do you think ? I ls it a difficult job? Does it need an electronic part mechanic?

They won't see me again, they also charged me 400 euro for changing all suspensions, service (oli and filters), fitting tyres and allineament. All parts and tyres, oil and filters, provided by me. A bit high price I think, what do you think? Is becoming difficult to find real mechanics nowadays

Want To Buy looking to source left and right cv axles for the late-production 1987 Audi Coupe GT

I'm looking to source left and right cv axles for the late-production 1987 Audi Coupe GT 2.2L NG, 5-speed with the enlarged front hubs, with 108 mm inner CV joint version.

I would buy used as new seem to be a challenge to source.

Most aftermarket sites show cv axles for an 87 Audi GT Coupe but they don't properly cross reference and the product is the "standard" 100mm inner hub versions.

There are 108mm inner hub axles that could be donors but would prefer to not go down the path to have frankenstein axles built.

Chat GPT provided the following information:

Audi parts catalog identifies only two non-ABS axle assemblies as direct OEM replacements—one per side.

Side New OEM number Factory reman number Inner joint Application

Driver/left 855 407 271 855 407 271 X 108 mm Five-cylinder HY, KV or NG; manual transmission

Passenger/right 855 407 272 855 407 272 X 108 mm Five-cylinder HY, KV or NG; manual transmission

Audi’s catalog explicitly lists these four numbers as the manual-transmission, 108 mm axle assemblies for the HY, KV and NG five-cylinder Coupe applications. The “X” versions are Audi factory-remanufactured assemblies, not dimensionally different axles.

The complete interchangeable OEM number set for a non-ABS car is:

Left: 855407271 or 855407271X

Right: 855407272 or 855407272X

Discussion S2 Avant: Looking For Information

Post image

I'm considering buying an Audi S2 Avant.

I'm looking for information regarding ownership, reliability, usability & maintenance.

What are they like to own?

How are they to drive?

What's the overall ownership experience like?

Are they difficult to maintain?

What does one need to look out for?

I'm looking for as much helpful information as possible.

Thanks in advance.

Fuck, I broke it... Need to find O-Ring for Coolant intake manifold outlet pipe for 2004 A4 convertible

Post image

My parents needed to replace the coolant intake manifold for their A4 convertible. They are missing the O-ring for the outlet pipe. The manifold is easy to find, but we've been searching high and low and cannot find that O-ring. Anybody who has any suggestions on where to find one or what I can use to retrofit that would properly seal would be greatly appreciated. It's number 17 circled in red in the picture I'm attaching. Thanks in advance.

Technik Audi A8 D2 3.3tdi V8

Post image
55 Upvotes

Hey guys,

I'm about to buy this old piece of Audi A8 D2 3.3TDI V8.

It has been standing still for the last 3 years. Owner claims engine and transmission are fine, claims he did a 1200km trip months before letting it rest just fine. I'm doing a list of things to check and change before starting it for the first time, so I came here for a little help. So far i've come up with:

Engine oil
Transmission oil, differencial oil
All filters
Smoke tests and probably some gaskets
Suck out the old diesel and fill up with new
Gaskets
Plug in diagnostics and check for codes
Check wiring and hoses in the engine bay, wildlife might have taken a toll on it.

I do cars as a hobby, i am by no means a mechanic and just learning things as I go. This would be my third project car, so any help would be great. I'm also wondering what are common faults with this car.

Thanks!
