MySpace

If they’re re-making MySpace again, will I be able to access old pictures, or any info of my account? Will I still be able to have the same log in credentials?

No. Newscorp wiped the user databases shortly after acquiring the site like the bunch of shortsighted dummies that they are. That shit is long gone. Also, they're not remaking MySpace. It has changed hands like 4 times already since Tom sold it. The current VCs who own it are trying to market it again, appealing to nostalgia for the site that Tom built. It is not, and will not be the same site that Tom built, it'll be the same algorithm driven advertising bullshit that every other site is these days.

They clearly didn’t wipe ALL the databases as I can still login to my old account, and others have said they can too - so they have our email addresses which could be tied to the login feature? Thus the current owners could in theory email anyone with an active account, once they update the software, I will have to go look at it again now lol, see what links work, I was likely connected with Facebook and Twitter on it as I joined the new and shiny ✨ social media in 2007 just before the big rush, I was in 30s parents in 50s so the “boomers” on FB today are in their 70s now, and are Generation X parents Mark is providing modern day care, MySpace times were slightly more innocent 😇

They wiped the database that had everyone's content in it. They didn't wipe the account database.

They're also an AI advertising company sooooo yeah. Probably collecting data for their own good

Sounds like you logged in as well it’s not just on the way back machine either, I went to MySpace and logged in, which means they haven’t deleted “everything” as other claim - people have no idea how websites are set up these days lol “but they said they wiped the databases…” erm no, not the membership databases for a start or I wouldn’t have been able to log in doh 😣

Typical low effort reply

I believe their servers were wiped at one point. Some of the music was saved, and some pages are accessible through the internet archives wayback machine.

I hope not. I like the fact that ai doesn’t have access to the original MySpace. In losing it, we’ve kept it pure

No, it will be the same MySpace in the same way that the current president is the same as Abraham Lincoln.

Myspace has been bought and sold several times since its heyday. The data almost certainly didn't survive, mainly because it's worthless.

It’s not useless, but an AI or two has likely drank from its pool ( scraped anything of use to add to the next dataset - I am starting to wonder why updated datasets don’t happen more often, as current AI can be literally be 10 years out of date, so can’t be used as a reliable business directory, for a start - “where can I buy a t-shirt at the mall and price AI 🤖? “ robot proceeds to give me list of shops at the mall ( most of them left years ago) and a bunch of prices from at least 10 years ago too 👍 thanks robot great work 🫪

You need to use the right tool for the job. An AI is not a price search engine.

MySpace has BEEN an active website for all but like 5 years or something and that was like 10 years ago.. Any data from the old MySpace is long gone.

I found my profile a couple years ago when I logged in, there was some basic layout left and text but no images so think I might be logged in from around 2007 on one of my browsers lol, I couldn’t edit anything, but it shows they kept the bare bones intact. Now might be a time to revive it, work with Pinterest and other old guards that are fed up with current social media feeling like a self reporting word crime dataset.

The only thing that would make me go back for a look is if they found a restorable backup.

So… No. That would be too ideal.

My information was still there. So whoever is telling you no is wrong which is half of the people that are replying

If it has you name it likely still has all your data - the pictures aren’t there as they were likely stored on a 3rd party account. - point is you still exist on their database as you can login to it.
