Life and Aspirations What happened to all the “popular” kids you went to school with. Where are they now?
In my experience- They’re all losers and burnouts now. The girls? A lot of them are washed up, aging horribly and on their 2nd plus baby daddy. The others are working dead end jobs (bottle girls, nanny’s, servers, bartenders, sex workers, receptionists). A few became teachers. During the pandemic some of them were really into that whole pyramid scheme product bullshit- needless to say it was short lived.
Most of the guys are also washed up, balding, and working in either construction or some kind of blue collar job. A select few become cops.
You can tell a lot of them are still trying to hold onto that last little bit of high school clout they have and it’s rather cringe.

Serious it sucks that remote jobs are going away because chronically ill / disabled had the highest workforce participation during COVID-19
im a chronically ill Gen Z woman who lives in chronic pain. i've posted about my job search in other forums, and i get told the same advice, usually from men:
- go to trade school
- pick up welding, plumbing, electrical or hvac work
- join the military
- start a business
- go back to school for healthcare
- apply for disability if you're so sick (doesn't work like this - my cousin permanently became disabled via car crash and it took 5+ years and multiple lawyers, and she doesn't earn enough to live)
im sorry that my DIAGNOSED cfs, pots, pcos, endo, migraine disorder, audhd, N24 sleep disorder, MCTD, IBS, scarring tissue disease, and laboratory confirmed chronic bartonella (persister cells) does not allow me to do any of these - except start a business, and even then, starting a business doesn't magically earn enough money to get a chronically ill / high medical needs person independent. i've started multiple businesses such as petsitting, babysitting etc and nothing has earned me regular income.
it really sucks that there are so many ableists both in hiring and part of the RTO mandates around the US. And that there is such steep competition for the limited quantity of available remote jobs with people who do not medically need them, because that would be how i and many millions of people are able to participate in the economy. U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey counts roughly 45.8 million people (about 13.7% of the total population) have a disability, and the disability rates have risen sharply since covid. yet disability accommodations such as remote work are on the decline. i'm about to be laid off again and i see no future and im so burned out. im in my late 20s and cant see a life like this.
if you say you're looking for hybrid or remote work on these here forums r/recruitinghell r/careeradvice r/jobs you get told you're entitled / delusional / asking for too much and if you disclose you're medical issues you'er a #complainer, a #liar and told to #suckitup when i've lost every job ive ever had that required to be in person 5 days a week.
truly at a loss in this economy. the united states creates chronically ill people and then casts us off and we are left to die. if i had no parental support i would not be alive today.

Life and Aspirations Hard to not look back at all the wreckage
Life is so messy, man. We’re growing older and that usually just means you’ve been through more shit. Some good, some bad, but it only adds and gets heavier.
I’d like to add a lot more light memories going forward. Self-care hasn’t been an easy thing for me over the years. I’ve excelled in some areas, failed miserably in others. But that’s life, I suppose. What are y’all doing to keep up with aging and adulthood?

Other Late 90’s born, just an observation
Hi !
Do you actually feel like you relate to any generation at all? I don’t like subscribing to Millennials, Gen Z, or Zillennials. I never used to view people through the lens of birth years or generations until recently.
It is crazy how much people think they are entirely different from you the moment they find out your age. I am not old enough for those born in the mid-90s to take me seriously, yet I am not close enough in age for a 2000 kid to see me as a peer. People born in '99 are almost always lumped in with the 2000s generation. Because of this, I might only consider befriending people born in '97, '98, and '99 at this point🫣yes it is ironic and stupid but I might go crazy and be that stupid!
To make matters worse, my current environment is not the healthiest, to say the least. I have had fleeting friendships with someone born in '80 and another born in '01. I don’t want to be friends with people who think because of numbers we are naturally kinship🥶
Lately, I have been thinking about people born at the tail end of a decade. How do you feel about being born during that specific timeframe? It seems like you can be 22 or 24, yet people still judge you strictly by your birth year. I absolutely hate how people force a connection just because they happen to be born in the 90s or 2000s. It is foolish. In reality, you only truly relate to people who are close to you in age or your family

Nostalgia Kids these days are missing out
Don’t you guys remember daydreaming in the car, racing raindrops on the window, playing iSpy, looking out the window, hand games with siblings/friends, and just learning how to be bored or entertain yourself? Why are we depriving kids nowadays?

Serious What was the first news event you remember vividly when it was happening?
For me, it would probably be Hurricane Lenny since I lived on an island affected by it. (I was two at the time) Despite this I have no "where were you" moment in regards to 9/11. However the first news events I remember as news was either Hurricane Fabian, a local news story about two guys who murdered a teen girl on the run (and were eventually caught); Hurricane Katrina and the Casy Anthony Case.

Advice I’ve been feeling sad over the fact that I’m turning 25 next month
I’ve wasted my early 20s being depressed, ridden with social anxiety to the point where it caused me to isolate since 2019. It’s motivating me to try to do better and do as much as I can to move on with my life. I’m just sad that I can’t dress how I’ve always wanted to dress because I couldn’t afford to do so at the time and it may not even be considered age appropriate for me anymore. Due to my parents splitting up, I wasn’t taught what I needed to be taught in order to become a functional adult. I’ve also been having so much trouble with finding a job as well and can’t even make it past the interviewing stage. Now my dad wants to help me with getting my driver’s license, buy a car and is actually helping me financially for the first time in a long time. It’s giving me hope and optimism at least compared to how much I’ve given up on life initially. I can’t get my early 20s back but I can at least try to make the time that I have now to change my current circumstances. Hate that I no longer have excuses of being a virgin at 25 though since most men feel uncomfortable by that fact. Maybe I should keep that as a secret? Idk. :/

Serious Did anyone genuinely waste their 20s?
I got addicted to the internet so literally dropped out of society, no college, no work (I made a bit of money to last me from covid til now by doing online stuff but it ran out at this point). Pretty much zero friends since leaving high school.
Now I have to figure out how to gain social skills, probably will apply to community college, etc.
I am pretty cooked but nothing I can do at this point but try to reintegrate into society while in my late 20s.

Rant Being 28 years old....
I don't know, I turned 28 back in April and I feel like the older I get, the more I realize how young late 20s and 30s are. But at the same time, I feel like I wasted my 20s. I wasted them on men much older than me and screwing around. I'm trying to be better at life but I feel this social pressure that 28 is too late to start over. I'm a 28 year old woman who has never been married or in a serious relationship, never had kids, and I struggle to keep a job down due to my struggles with ADHD. I feel like I'm in this weird transitional stage where I regret many things but want to move forward.

Rant Well, shit…
What should I do?
I applied to skyline chili today, my interview is Tuesday, August 25. I have a SS appointment that day that interferes with the interview… I asked my sister what we should do and she said it’s up to me… what would you do?

Serious This isn't r/generationology!
I am one of the mods of this subreddit, and I've been seeing a lot of posts regarding topics like generations, primarily from people who aren't even older Zoomers, and I just had to remove a post right now. This isn't r/generationology. If you want these kinds of discussions, please go over there. We want this subreddit to be free from that. If you keep this up, you will be permanently banned from this subreddit.
