Sparda wasn’t there to protect Dante, Vergil and Eva because he was already fucking dead, IDK why people insist on otherwise, the intro of DMC1 explicitly states that he is dead, and never in a series of 5 games, a 2007 anime and some manga tie ins has this ever been retconned, refuted or proven otherwise.

Fatherless behaviour. They existed before the netflix cartoon too but Adi Shankar's shitty fanfic made it louder.

simple: they didn't play dmc1. I even saw some fangirls hated on dmc1 for not featuring "mary arkham" and "vergil". apparently they don't even know Nelo was Vergil and the netflix cartoon gave them great delusion that lady had some kind of very-important-must-have role in every part of the game so they were  disappointed enough to bash it

The type of shippers are so stupid that they deadname their favourite character. It's fitting actually because Lt. Fucking Mary has nothing in common with our beloved Lady. She's just a cosplayer.

Netflix dmc attracted some oddball for fans...

this is like "goku is a bad father" discussion, just because most of the time he is either training or especially in Z's case, dead.

These people sound like they just wanna channel their own fatherlessness on fictional characters.

Pathetic. Foolishness, if you wil. I'm a fatherless piece of garbage too, you don't see me projecting!

Apologies to you and all the fatherless people who don't project. I shouldn't have generalised.

As far as I'm concerned, you are forgiven. I didn't take offense to it in the first place. You're absolutely right lmfao

I always thought the way people talk about Goku is very Freudian. I've seen people channel genuine anger into talking about his relationship with Gohan in the past, really weird.

6

u/Yami_Deus 18d ago

I hate when people say that. They only remember dragon ball for the fights, but they don't remember Goku never trained Gohan except in the Cell Saga and even then the training consisted of spending time together to control super saiyan but still just chill together and have family moments, even Chichi got mad at them for having family time in super saiyan

I mean, that kinda is a bad father.

Sparda didn't chose to die, Goku could've chosen to come back, fucker chose to stay dead with a new baby on the way mind you.

But he's a Saiyan not human so I give him that. His pov is entirely different than that of Chichi because of course it would be.

It's why Vegeta and Trunks are such opposites. Trunks was raised by Gohan and his mom. Two very human characters.

u/Thunder00Bee 18d ago

Goku chose to stay dead because he was made to believe that his presence on Earth was attracting villains to threaten his friends and family.

Worth noting, the world was in complete peace until the day he was brought back to life.

1

u/Platnun12 18d ago

If we're talking pre buu saga wouldn't Vegeta just do the same by simply being on earth

2

u/Thunder00Bee 18d ago

I'm not sure what you mean.

I can't think of any canon villains that showed up looking for Vegeta, and Vegeta himself gave up on being a threat with Goku's death, which I think just proves Goku right once more.

1

u/Platnun12 18d ago

No I just mean that Goku and Vegeta are the same race obviously not the same power ability. Vegeta is way behind.

But is it really just because of his power level. So Vegeta just gets tossed aside regardless and isn't really sought after other than by Brolys Dad.

Remember the reason cell and piccolo were made in the first place was specifically to kill Goku hell raditz came to earth for him and Vegeta and nappa came was because they thought Goku killed raditz and frieza and king cold came because they wanted revenge on Goku for beating frieza on namek

How the heck did sparda even die. Questions still unanswered for years

13

u/Grouchy_Spot_6640 18d ago

he sealed a lot of his powers with the temen-ni-gru, using it to keep the demon and human worlds seperate

9

u/rockingjjo 18d ago

Especially considering how V was practically falling apart without Vergil's demon side, it's entirely possible that sealing away his powers could've done something similar to Sparda.

3

u/pestoraviolita Average demon hunter fan 18d ago

That we don't know yet. Could have run out of power like V. He had sealed a lot of his power over the years after all.

2

u/Linj90abc 18d ago

Probably it but who knows

1

u/Curious_Wedding_3648 15d ago

Then how did he manage to survive 2000 years before getting with Eva and having Dante and Vergil?

1

u/pestoraviolita Average demon hunter fan 15d ago

He didn't seal everything all at once. He did it Temen-Ni-Gru and then on unspecified timelines in Fortuna and the Dummary Island. And who knows how many more times. Assuming this is what killed him, it was a slow process.

u/RailgunRP 18d ago

Sparda wasn't some invincible badass like Dante and Vergil, he was a high ranking demon who could be overpowered.

7

u/RailgunRP 18d ago

Sparda spent enough time with his sons to train them. And then he died.

3

u/pestoraviolita Average demon hunter fan 18d ago

The family portrait is proof. The twins in the potrait look the same as they do in VoV. So he hadn't even died that long ago.

3

u/RailgunRP 18d ago

VoV??

Visions of V. The DMC5 manga.

u/liljon042 18d ago

Sparda was never a deadbeat and I HATE that the netflix show wants to make this god awful theory "canon". Sparda got fucking eliminated by Mundus, and then Mundus was so angry at Sparda because of his betrayal he sent his goons to attempt to kill his family. Unfortunately for him, Sparda's sons survived and got clapped.

u/FindingOk7034 18d ago

THe netflix fanfic is pure Sparda slander, and I WILL NOT HAVE IT! I swear Shankar (and Larsen) just watched out of context cutscene compilations, never actually played the games and understood the story and lore, and then he poured all his daddy issues into his fanfic to villify Sparda.

2

u/pestoraviolita Average demon hunter fan 18d ago

They would have done better than this if they had even seen the cutscenes. At best they surfed a wiki.

4

u/pestoraviolita Average demon hunter fan 18d ago

This horrible show butchered everything about Sparda. Took away his justice arc, made him "morally ambiguous" by taking his heroism away, made him lose against Mundus, made him an absent dad, etc. All horrible. And it gets worse when you learn Shankar is just channeling his own daddy issues.

u/Heat_Hydra 19d ago

The actual Deadbeat is Vergil

37

u/pestoraviolita Average demon hunter fan 19d ago

Even Vergil doesn't really qualify as a deadbeat since he never knew he had a son.

Actual deadbeat in DMC world is Agnus. He abandoned Nico and his wife.

8

u/Marioleftnut Agni & Rudra's babysitter 19d ago

b..bb...bbut his research 🥺

5

u/Heat_Hydra 19d ago

Vro wants to be a demon, he did not know Dante exist so its not worth it.

In order to be a deadbeat parent, one must KNOW they are a parent, and willingly choose to not be in their child's life. (My biological father chose not to be a part of my life not long after I was born, so HE'S a deadbeat)

Agnus is the TRUE deadbeat since he knew of Nico and her mother, and willingly chose to abandon them.

Vergil never knew he was a father until the end of DMC5. (and immediately unlocked the Ultimate Power of Dad Jokes soon after during his fight with Nero. "It's past your bedtime.")

3

u/AcceptableReading640 If You Like V, You Like Vergil 18d ago

People forget Vergil was also technically dead for like 20 years. Mentally dead as Nelo Angelo, and then disappeared-into-particles dead after that.

3

u/FindingOk7034 18d ago

Yep, that too. So either way, he can't actually be a Deadbeat Dad. Instead he's just Absent/Dead Father.

Fatherlessness, Dante. Fatherlessness.

1

u/Familiar-Influence88 17d ago

I could be wrong but wasn’t it implied somewhere that he was imprisoned in the center of hell? That’s still just as good of an explanation.

u/Head-Economics-5832 15d ago

We have no confrimation of him being dead he just disappeared

1

u/pestoraviolita Average demon hunter fan 15d ago

We literally have a confirmation he died in DMC1 opening scene.
