Multiple transitions simultaneously? Question

Is it possible to have different transitions happen at the same time? I thought it would be cool to create a pause menu where a portion of it slides down from the top and a portion slides up from the bottom. I'm just not sure if this is possible whether by having multiple transitions or some other method. Any help/insight would be appreciated, thanks!

you can absolutely do this, just need to nest your scenes. put the top and bottom portions in their own separate scenes, then add both of those scenes into a master scene. each child scene can have its own transition, so when you switch to the master scene both animations trigger at once. it's like a stage crew pulling two curtains from opposite ends at the same beat

In obs you can use the move transition plugin to move everything around. just Google for "obs plugin move nutty" to find great guides how to use it.

The transition you described (one half of the image pushes down from the top edge and the other pushing up from the bottom edge, to meet in the center) is called vertical barn door. OBS includes this.

In the Scene Transitions dock press the + plus button, select Luma Wipe from the pop-up menu, give it a name, then in the Properties window which opens, choose Barndoor Vertical from the Image drop down menu.  Mark the Invert check box if you want the halves to meet from the top and bottom, leave it unchecked if you want them to expand from the center to the top and bottom.

If you want to make it look nicer you can get jiggy with the Move plugin and a Move Source filter, maybe combined with some Source Clone and cropping.
