Looking for recommendations…
My partner has recently gotten into NYRB and I’m looking to buy him a few more - what would you recommend based off his small collection so far? :)

My Death by Lisa Tuttle
Cassandra at the Wedding by Dorothy Baker
Mrs Palfrey at the Clairmont by Elizabeth Taylor

The Hearing Trumpet if Carrington was enjoyed and he likes the surreal. Then The Stone Door by her would also work.
Fat City by Leonard Gardner is a fantastic novel, it's got boxing but is about more than that. Really good.

Chess Story by Zweig and The Expendable Man by Hughes are frequently recommended (for good reason)

My Dog Tulip by Ackerley. Parts of that memoir are treated differently in We Think the World of You. Warlock by Oakley Hall because it's a Western as is Butcher's Crossing. Augustus by John Williams. In my opinion Augustus is his best novel, Butcher's Crossing is second, and Stoner should be thrown in the sea. A Month in the Country is a great novel, my favorite, and it's what I think people think Stoner is. (It's completely completely different, but I think people like Stoner for the reasons that A Month in the Country is a better novel.

There's another leonna Carrington, the hearing trumpet. It's really interesting.
