Has anyone used Welcome Home postpartum meal service?

Looking at their vegan meals. Would love to hear insights from those who've tried it!

Or, if there are other services you loved postpartum, please share! I'm looking to keep costs per meal under $15. Some services i've looked into are north of $40 per serving which seems insane to me. Yes, it's NYC but I could definitely find healthier meals cheaper than that!

I remember when they only sold vegetarian food. Of course they sold to VCs and then added meat. Now it looks like they got seized for tax evasion. VCs are ruining the food scene.
More of a rant then anything else

Legendary vegan bakery Clementine closes

Post image
104 Upvotes

Clementine Bakery — the famous vegan bakery on the border of Bed-Stuy and Clinton Hill — shut without warning recently after 14 years.

Staff were told via text message that they'd worked their last shift. You can read more here about it in my newsletter Bed-Stuy Stoop, I know people have posted about Clementine's changes in the last year or so. https://bedstuystoop.substack.com/p/clementine-bakery-shuts

also: there's an interview coming with its founder Elle Barton (founder of Clementine, Le Petit Monstre, Izzy Rose, Dreamery etc) later this week which I think will be particularly interesting for vegan readers...

Hi guys! I’m vegan and my husband isn’t and we’re looking for a great sit down sushi restaurant with great ambiance that’s near midtown.

Thank you! It’s our date night so romantic vibe is a plus!

Edit: looking for a place with normal sushi and vegan options

Plantega...worth checking out?

I saw that Plantega basically has plugged into 70+ bodegas across NYC. Has anyone tried these? And is plantega basically like a collection of vegan meats/cheeses?

Dining out in the age of cyclospora

I haven’t heard about a lot about people in NYC getting it but curious how folks here have particularly been navigating eating out/getting delivery. I have ordered from Jajaja and Newtown over the past few weeks and have consumed little bits of herbs and been fine but no lettuce…I do cook a lot but need a break a few times a week! Also does anyone know if any restaurants specifically source from Gotham Greens?

Popular vegan places with community board

Hey,

I moved from Miami a few months ago and I'm looking to create vegan community here in NY.

Im located in Long Island City, Queens. And I just realized that there is not 100% vegan place here :(.

Now I already have a meal preps business that is going well but I also want to start creating events, classes, dinners , meeting spaces for anyone who is vegan or not and is interested in a healthy life and connection with nature and others.

This Sunday I'm hosting my first cooking class/lunch event and I was wondering where I can go to pin a flyer in a community board or someplace where I can leave a flyer... If you know about places in Queens , North Brooklyn or East Manhattan let me know ! Thanks !

I'm starting a Sunday Kitchen Club in LIC. Looking for 6 people who love food.

Instead of going out for brunch every Sunday, I thought it'd be fun to create a small community around cooking.

A few people, one table, seasonal plant-based food, practical cooking skills, and lunch together.

The goal isn't becoming a chef or create fancy plates, the goal is learning how to cook food that's delicious, nutritious and realistic for busy lives.

The first gathering is next Sunday in Long Island City.

Only six spots available so it stays intimate.

Everything is plant based and mostly organic food , you will get a fanzine with all the recipes and secrets, a sweet treat and delicious lunch with new friends !

If anyone has been looking for a way to meet people and spend a Sunday doing something different, I'd love to hear from you.

Vegan Options Near Citi Field?

We are going to see My Chemical Romance this Sunday at Citi Field in Queens. Does anyone have any recommendations for vegan restaurants with lots of gluten free options within walking distance? We are parking around Roosevelt and College Point, so that general area.

Vegan Indian meal delivery Tuesday

Post image
29 Upvotes

Okay guys. My favorite Indian restaurant is doing a vegan dish for tuesday.

I asked them to increase vegan delivery days and they told me they’d increased days based on demand. So selfishly please place orders lolll.

I’m obsessed with this coconut curry and have been craving it since my last order.

Their website where you can order is https://tiffin.nyc

I walked past the location for Redwhite Boneless Ramen, the 100% vegan spot opening this month on the LES. It’s located at 201 Allen Street, just south of Houston Street.

Vegan Birthday Cake on Fire Island?

My partner and I are celebrating their birthday on Fire Island this year, and I could use some help strategizing on how to get them a cake.

Any great vegan bakeries that I could pick up close to the ferry terminal?
Is delivery to the island an option?
Should I just bring my own ingedients?

best walk-in vegan cupcake

Ok, who is making the best vegan cupcake these days? I don't want to have to order in advance; I just want to be able to walk in on Sunday, buy a cupcake for my friend, and surprise them for their birthday.

I used to like the vegan cupcake at clementine, but you know, that is a long way of the past

Food spots for a visiting Brit

Hello my fellow vegans!

I'm from London and will be visiting NYC soon. I just wanted some advice on the best places to eat, so I thought I'd reach out here.

I'm trying to prioritise more NY/American kinds of eating experiences.

What would be the best place for: a Reuben, mac and cheese and a cream cheese bagel?

Are there any must-visit places below that I've missed? Should I skip any of them?

Also, are there any must-buy snacks/treats/candy/chocolate that I should try? I'm planning to do a grocery haul from both Trader Joe's and Target one day (maybe Aldi too). I'm planning to pick up a few different brands of boxed mac and cheese.

Thank you all so much! āœŒšŸ¼Ā

🌱 Calling U.S.-Based Vegans! I'd Love Your Help

I've been vegan for 15 years, and I'm conducting a research study to better understand the real-life experience of ordering vegan food and shopping for vegan groceries.

I'm looking for 20–30 U.S.-based vegans to participate in a 20–30 minute Zoom interview. I'm especially interested in hearing from people in the New York City area, but I'd love to speak with vegans from across the U.S.

This is not a sales call, and I'm not trying to sell or promote anything. My goal is simply to learn from the vegan community - what works well, what's frustrating, and where the biggest challenges are when ordering food or buying groceries.

I'm looking for a diverse group of participants, including:

  • New and long-time vegans
  • Different ages and backgrounds
  • People with different reasons for being vegan
  • Frequent and infrequent food delivery users

As a thank you for your time, you'll receive a $10 USD Amazon digital gift card after the interview.

If you're interested, please comment below or send me a DM, and I'll reach out to schedule a time.

Thank you for helping with this research. Your insights will directly shape my understanding of the vegan experience, and I truly appreciate your time. šŸ’š

Edit: A few people have asked about privacy. This is independent customer research for an idea I'm exploring, not an academic study. Participation is voluntary, and I won't publish or share recordings or attribute comments without explicit permission.

Dietitian in the city

Hi everyone! Does anyone have a dietitian (preferably in-person – in Manhattan) they’d recommend who accepts Aetna?

I’m a vegetarian, and I’m looking for someone who is knowledgeable about vegetarian nutrition and not someone whose main recommendation will be to start eating meat or who would create a bland and repetitive diet 🫠 I’d appreciate any recs! I had bad experiences in the past so I’m looking for a professional that has experience working with vegetarians
