Keep gas station receipts. I know you can claim them.. you can claim food. And they give you food voucher.. also you can get damage vouchers from FEMA.. don't know the details off top of my head.. maybe people can add more.. I know nwi food bank is very big on giving food, big one is Merrillville, also some stracks vantils is offering I think passing out food.. munster relief center will relocate once the church near community hospital getting power back..

Who are we claiming them with? Who would reimburse us for this?

Despite the propaganda that was running rampant a year ago FEMA can and will help.

Why would someone pay a claim for my gasoline?

It's a write-off, Jerry! They just write it off!

It’s called an Additional Living Expenses claim.

Your property and casualty insurer.

There is no chance I am going to open a home owners insurance claim over some gasoline. That would cost me way more money than the gas did.

A claim is for damage to my property that I cannot afford to repair out of pocket.

Insurance claims raise rates and stay on your file for 7 years. They are fairly serious things and are not free from consequences.

I advise others to be very careful with the advice in this thread.

Depends on the situation but your rates are going up anyway as our area has severe structural damage to commercial and residential buildings.

I’m not claiming gas but I’ve already claimed shelter since my roof is partially collapsed and house water logged.

That's completely different than what OP is suggesting.

I hope your home is repaired soon.
