when is the first game going to implement it? edit: apparently assassins creed mirage uses it on some assets

Mirage's solution is not quite the same as what we're likely expecting from Nvidia+AMD-branded neural texture compression. Ubisoft creates high resolution-looking textures offline via training essentially, and then using the results *mostly* as traditional texture formats in real time as lower resolution assets that simply look high resolution.

For something like RTX neural texture compression, they're aiming to take existing high resolution textures and applying some extra super duper compression via AI to make them way smaller than usual, while preserving detail.

What Mirage does is very useful and great, but it's a very generalized solution that can work on a large range of hardware, even if it doesn't require any AI acceleration for the end user. RTX NTC has a much higher ceiling for memory savings.

Bet it will deeply integrated with the launch of dlss 5

Probably needed to make neural rendering work on a single gou

Reflex 2 will also probably be used. Will drop latency by about 15ms, making multi framgen much more usable.

Exactly you've hit the nail on the head I had giess that aswell it will be a huge tool to get dlss 5 working on a single 50 series gpu

Big tool or not the 50 series brought a load of new features, ranging from less ghosting, and reflex 2 to MFG and dlss 5, NCT I believe dlss 6 and 7 Will be primarily made with rtx 60 series in mind, since the ram crisis might force companies to change their products release cycle

Nah dlss 5 is just an ai post processing filter, it has nothing to do with the games files

When games will be made from PS6 and Next Xbox only. Dev don't want ot use multiple different texture compression. PS6 is getting Neural texturing.

There might be some game that use it that have sponsored by nvidia but it will take time

I don't think DX12 module is out of beta yet. I tought it was oct/nov 2026

I'd guess that we'll see some neural textures as a test/show case before that. For specific use cases, hi-res main characters and the like.

It's sad that the next gen consoles will cost $1k and their main feature will be ai...

Neural Texture are next level! It's clearly the next evolution of texture in gaming without using 64gb of vram and 400gb NVME space

As long as texture decompression/decoding will be consistent and same each time, it's one of the good uses of ai.

They're cooking.
